Default CDRW problem after turning on the system: gosh it smells a burnt rubber!

guys just got a problem hir dis morning.. i was re assembling my set to its new case. Everything's done and when i turned on, fortunately i was looking into the case and i heard a small alerting sound. i immediately turned the power off, take the power chord out and check out what happened. guess what when i look inside, my CD RW smells that of a burning wire or something but i can't find any damage on it physically. what would be the problem on it and does it damaged my CD RW?

could be that the damage is inside the enclosure that's why you can't see it by inspecting externally.
