you shouldn't be promoting torrents especially if its for piracy

/Thread - the dangers for port forwarding? you're opening a port na pwede gamiton sa mga hackers.

i guess you want port forwarding so that maka download pud ubang peers nimo sa torrent. Yes, it's correct to say that it can help in your P2P sharing. problem is, Once you open a port, you are also opening some of the windows to your private network. Which may, in turn, result to a devastating problem like DoS or exploitations to known vulnerabilities, not to mention the possibility of you being used as spamming agent.

there are actually different methods to help prevent attacks against port forwarding. Like having a different port published in internet and a different one in between your router and pc.

    -------------port80-----------------port600
    internet------------router------------------PC
    ----------------WAN-----LAN-----------LAN

So instead of using all the way port 80, you can actually change it like the above scenario.. The port published is different from the actual port number inside your network. At least this way, the one who sees the webserver from outside, may not be able to directly know what really is inside your network. At least you'll be able to add another barricade to your security, for the least.

but, of course, if port forwarding will be used for P2P.. for sure, you'll be facing more security problems than not using P2P at all...

happy downloading to you though..... lolz

Look closer sa incoming na traffic sa imong router. Make sure detailed and complete ang logs. You'll see LOTS AND LOTS of logs blocking incoming traffic on your router sa people trying to scan your ip. what if usa makasulod? and you're saying na nag-sayang sayang lang ug oras?

either one sa akong gi-mention na "LOTS", naa gyuy makasulod. survival of the fittest na ideology ba

my confidence in portforwarding with my setup is because i have a good anti-virus & firewall combo installed. intruders always get flagged. it depends on what it is needed for, unsa man imo gamitan? if you can't deal with the risk then you are not going to enjoy what that is that's needing/requiring it. just like that. ice cream or no ice cream?

i dnt think nag sayang ra gyud silag oras ug makasulod na ang hacker sa imo system. magamit gud nila imong pc as part of their system na mag attack sa ubang systems... so, although dili ikaw ilahang victim, nakatabang na nuon imong pc pang biktima sa uban.. so it's imperative gyapon na protektahan nato ang system bisag personal use ra..

port forwarding...... well, u should also take this as a serious matter, kay opening ports recklessly will result na you will be a victim of hacking.. well, it doesnt matter if corporate ka or home set-up kay there are many ways on how the hacker will do to your system if makasulod na cya... just like sploy said na gamiton imu pc pra makavictim og laing pc, there are also possibilities na imu system gyud iya gub-on, then second, your files... especially the important ones, will you allow na labtan sa hacker then last, for worst case scenario, the hacker will use your pc as an instrument of attack, if the hacker attacks a secured system nya maregister sa ila log na mao ni na pc, den unya trace nila kay ikaw, on your part ala ka kabalo, well ma surprise lang ka pagka ugma naa manuktok nimu na pulis... hehehehe

thats why na kinahanglan gyud extra careful with this matter....
