young ones needs to have a diet that is high in protein

The Sailfin lizard (Hydrosaurus pustulatus) is an oviparous lizard living only in the Philippines. It is classed by the IUCN as vulnerable.

The Sailfin lizard is an excellent swimmer and has flattened toes that enable it to run across water. It is omnivorous, feeding on fruit, leaves, flowers, insects, and small animals. It lives near rivers in the tropical forests of the Philippines. Males have a larger crest on their back than the females.

over the years marami na namamatay sa mga to due to wrong diet at stress, untill now their number is still decreasing dahil narin sa illegal pet trade

last 2005 nakapag release ako nito sa wild but unfortunately
malamang wala na sila, yung isolated area kung san ko sila napakawalan
ngyon nabahayan na ng mga tao

bro thanks a lot for the information so this is called salfin water dragon?
i had this as pet for almost for almost four years now.
this is the diet that im giving my salfin dragon
    cabbage
    cockroach
    mansanitas
sometimes lettuce, apples, and other fruits and vegetable na available sa balay.

bro can you advice on how to breed and how to find a male pair ready for breeding for my salfin water dragon?

shes been laying eggs for a year now..
plano nako pa daghanon and para pud maka tabang ta ug padaghan balik.
cause its better na captive breeding nalang kayas i release in to the wild just to be captured and sold to irresponsible people or cooked for food.

    males have taller fins

try feeding your water dragon a Superworm or a live fish such as kataba

I was able to take care of about 3-4 or four Sailfins na. the other 2 passed away. the other two escaped Katung usa sad nako nga dako sige sad ug pangitlog, then after awhile it died. I think it couldnt finish laying her eggs and then na boak sa sud and nag internal bleeding and poisoning. Sayung dako unga ta na and nindut kaayo. Not sure ko if fertile bato or not pero kuyug to cya ug cage sa other sailfin nga naka buhi.

Hmmmm, Philippine sailfin lizards....the Cebu species is actually a different subspecies as compared to all other sailfin lizrds here in the philippines. The female is loaded with more greenish tinge as compared to the darker coloration of other lizrds from the other Philippine islands. The male on the other hand can be distinguished by bluish scales on its body and a sail - like protrusion on the base of the tail if its already an adult. i havent bred these lizards yet though i had my lizards lay eggs every year. Copulation is the most difficult part as the male barely tries to mate in captivity much more if it was a wild caught one. Though if you have a pair, what you can do is immediately separate the eggs (within the first 24 hours from laying otherwise dont mind transferring the eggs as they will just die) Then mix perlite/vermiculite with peat, sand and water. Put it in a box with little holes on top (this is to prevent too much evaporation of water as the eggs needs to be incubated in high humidity) and place the whole set- up in an area where it can be hit by the morning sunlight for heat. spray every now and then with water if surface tends to dry up. It will hatch in approx. 3 mos. you will know that the eggs are fertile coz the eggs will increase in size by the 2nd month of incubation. Remember! DONT TOUCH THE EGGS! they are not like bird eggs that need rolling as the babies drown in their own yolk. Hope this helps

Very nice information there sir I find sailfins albeit more feisty though than my green igs. Maybe because dako nato sila pag palit nako compared to my greenies nga bought them while they were less than a year old pa..

yup, thus i would suggest for any reptile hobbyist to acquire hatchlings more than adult ones, pero ok ra pud ang adults kung well handled. MOre power to the reptile hobbyists dinhi sa CEbu!!!!
