Help with installing a CD/DVD Rom combo

I am trying to install a new CD/DVD Rom combo.. i do not know the exact brand becuase i just bought this in an assorted store. (hehe) The combo is detected in bios however in MY computer and Device manager, it is not being detected. I checked it in Add Hardware, it was detected but with a yellow alert, and it says that : "CD/DVC Rom drive is either not installed or detected. Boot file does not exist or is corrupted."

Already defragged and done the basic steps but not successful. Could this be a problem with my OS? What should I do? Please advise a newbie....

ide port bro... mabasa man sa bios and if adto ka sa add hardware, naa didto ang device. muana lng nga disk not found or corrupt. sa OS ba ni? basig nag conflict or unsa..

try to uninstall the optical drive then restart...

all cdrom/dvdrom are atomatically installed....unless you are using it in dos version....since you said it has been detected by the bios...then i suspect it must be your system o.s.....i agree it might be a conflict...maybe you place them all masters or all slaves...this can still be detected by bios but wont be detected by...the o.s.

cd-rom and dvd-rom do not need drivers to function properly, my guess is that there is a irq device conflict. is your dvd-rom combo brand new?

try deleting upper/lower filters in registry then re-detect the drive in device manager.
