Scene from childhood: I was in my elementary years. I just came from my karate class, and I was sitting in the Redemptorist rotunda waiting for my parents to pick me up. The night was chilly and I felt anxious and alone. Then my parents would arrive in our pick up truck and I would ride home happily, with the cool air conditioner blowing in my face and the songs of Jim Croce in the background.

Scene: I was in grade two and joy filled the air of our classroom because it was Christmas eve, and we were decorating. The decorations glittered in the blackboard: silver, gold, orange, yellow. Letters creatively drawn in red letters strung together that spelled M-E-R-R-Y C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S! My hand was covered with silver dust and I felt so happy.

Scene: I was not even in school yet. I was walking along a road with my manang. Nothing much I can remember except that I felt so happy!

Our 1st grade teacher taught us this song; we sang it almost every morning. When I grew up I began to think that maybe, due to some bouts of loneliness, I actually was the one who made the entire song, or worse - that I invented for myself a false memory; that there was really no such thing as early morning singing sessions during 1st grade; all these because I could not find anyone who could give me the title, or tell me that they, too, have heard of it. Thanks to the internet, though, I knew I wasn't crazy.

My cousin had a girlfriend named Carol and we always teased him about it by singing this song with matching sayaw-sayaw. Lol.
