    Default replacing CPU


    peepz, kung mag ilis/upgrade ug CPU, do we need to reformat windows?

    first off you cant reformat windows, only your harddisk and to your question: nope.

    if you mean proc then no need to do anything with your current OS. if the your going to upgrade your entire hardware then you have 2 options. first option: you will reformat (this is my preferred way) or you can choose the second option: uninstall all the drivers in safe mode then attached your old HDD to the new hardware and install the necessary drivers. failure to uninstall for example a chipset driver will cause blue screen errors and restarts. now, it is all up to you which way you want to do it.

    i don't think the 2nd option works if you're running a windows-based computer because since XP, the os would lock itself to certain hardware components where it was originally installed. just like if the system is using xp, you can move the hard drive to a different computer but...there are means tip: recovery console.

    kung imo gi mean CPU = processor answer is nope
    CPU = as the whole unit answer is yes ,reformat/install

    thanks for all the replies, i thought i reinstall napud ang OS ky additional vadjet napud sa technician hehehe, ako nalang taud ani, remove(old) and replace(new) manlang kaha ako buhaton? or there are some things to be done before an after intallation of a new proc.? say 4 example sa BIOS setting

    dapat limpyohan nimo ang heatsink then re-apply thermal paste..
