white balance cap and kelvin temp? both are different... kelvin = unit of measurement.... while WB cap = a device used to get an estimated white balance reading...

    depending on use.

Expodisc = shoot through the light source
WB warm cards = let the light hit the card and take a photo of the card, mostly for portraits (a little warm feel)
WB gray card = same as warm cards but more neutral. you can also use this in raw processing.

all have their own + and -. All depende na nimo. hhehehe.

The "Kelvin" you mentioned earlier could be Kelvin WB setting in the camera right? you can also use that, but... its all about trusting your camera's LCD. samot na naa'y Green cast. if you can master the colors of light through your eyes and convert them to "K" and how much green / magenta you put in your JPG file, then Kelvin WB setting would be a better way to use.

as what crashbrun said master the color of light para dali pag adjust sa white balance... pero og dili pa kaayo suhito sa color sa light then white balance cap is the way the to go... ako, i use white tissue or kana white nga naa sa cd sleeves or white cloth (kanang dili kaayo baga) kay wala pa man ko white balance cap (yeah i know im kinda cheap... hehehehehe)... it works on almost all situation nga difficult e set ang white balance specially mixed lighting situation...

i use a white balance cap but not mennon. which i use for shoots that are heavily dependent on color such as food and products.

using paper is also good but having a little knowledge of paper, it's hard to get a perfectly white bond paper, most have a bluish tint because of the chemical used to bleach paper.

most of the time, AWB works for me
