Smile NURSES: Your most rewarding experience

..what's the most rewarding thing u've ever experience since u join into the nursing profession?..

.. i know for one thing that this profession we are into is also a vocation.. that is to serve other people.. and somehow in creating rapport with our patients, we have encountered some unforgettable experiences with them, may it be on dying situation or just a tiny thank you from a sincere patient which have touched our hearts..

..c'mon.. can u share it with us?

performing any nursing interventions to any patients in Floor 2-C Perpetual, like suctioning, NGT feeding, tracheo care, etc... and hearing the feedback of the patient's significant others is also very rewarding.

also in ER VSMMC, learning to prioritize admitting patients before referring to the ER nurse for observation.. and CCMC as well, though it is in a different scenario.

being assigned to various district hospitals here in Cebu, like Tuburan, Sogod, Barili, Balamban... learning to adjust to certain fields and the protocols established there...

i can still remember the first time, i was assigned for DR exposure sa Sotto. it was for my major case, i was the handle. the patient didnt know she has twins ky never sya nag prenatal. kalit sad to ni abot patient mao wa na time mag assess further ang OB. the doctor, wanted me to experience how to deliver a baby gyud. i know, it was not supposed to be as a handle nurse but i took the risk. she let me do the birthing process excluding episiotomy n d repair. when i held the baby for the first time........Oh, wow...wat a feeling! its a wondrous miracle gyud...then we discovered another coming out and we were just in time to catch it

another experience, is i never realized na ma true love ang teaching. when the dean called my attention b4 ko nag exit and told me wat the board of directors' comments wer ...i was so elated! the more, i was so happy when i received praises from my students and one wrote me a letter...i just cried! one of these students is now working in LA, California and i received a call from her employer coz she made me one of her reference when she applied for the job, and i endorsed her to the best of my ability.

i wish i cud teach again

another rewarding experience of mine was during our community immersion at Sogod, Cebu..

the family's first impression towards me is that i was very judgmental by the way i look, but as i tell them what is our purpose in Brgy. Calumboyan, Sogod, they slowly opened up their doors towards us immersionists. My family even gave me a background of their sitio, and gave us a tour around the hillside. I told my family that our final weeks here in Sogod will be our last and i told them that we will cross paths again in the future.. One family member told me this: "Dodong, pasalamat gyud kaayo ko nimo, kai bisag wala koi maki hatag sa imo na bsag unsa na butang pero imo kami gi taga.an ug kalinawan na pang kinabuhi sa amoang sitio. Salamat gyud kaayo sa imohang pag dayon sa amoang barangay.. sa sunod kita nato kai ma bulahan mi diri taga Sogod." It was a shocking relevation, I almost cried but i'd just ignore it. indeed immersion is one of the best experiences i ever had in my life.
