Because most of the Filipino families are spending so much time in television.. watching telenobelas and other trash news like showbiz etc. people are pretending and acting like what they have seen in the TV or in the movies. The medium in television are not use as educational tool to the communities.. sadly most of our politicians are very popular and took advantage of the medium for being a "trapo". Spending an average of 40 hours a week in watching TV is very unproductive.. that's one of the hundred more reasons related to this topic.
we have to adopt our own unique style...stop imitating others especially western style...look how far our Asian neighbor now? we have to be realistic my friends...
then kadaghanan sa mga makamao, when they get older and prepared for the future, they will go abroad...
so ang nahibilin dri katong mga dili na makamao... mao to sila magdaghan dri...
The good/better teachers are leaving the country for "greener" pastures abroad.
I was once a college instructor...but the pay was miserable, and to think this was a "state" university. Go ahead, call me "mukhang pera", but hey, I'd rather do business, because do have my needs and wants, like any other human being.
I am indeed still interested in educating young people, but I'd rather do that in my spare time and for FREE, rather than getting a measly sum (barely enough for my needs) from a corrupt government for doing it.
And oh, I second what the others are saying about people watching too much TV. Wake up folks--TV is dead/dying in the developed countries--and the interactivity provided by new media (i.e. the web, virtual worlds) will be key in re-educating the "intellectual drought" that's been plaguing humanity ever since the invention of mass media.

edukasyon ug medya man usa sa mga rason. karon wala jud mobasa ug mga informative books. pulos ra novels which we cant learn anything from it. tan.aw tv pero pulos ra tele novela. tan.aw pa na sila ug national geographic or discovery or other informative shows.
unya karon if naa time, polos ra text2, unya wrong spelling pa jud sa text. usa sad na nga makabogo sa spelling.
because there is not much funding from the government... 3rd priority ra ni GMA ang education. first priority kay ang military. of course the filipinos will get dumber. and also, not much funding for scientists pud. people are not interested in getting PhDs kay unahon ang trabaho, unya nalang ang higher education. we need more scientists in this country jud...
the government doesn't give too much importance in our country's education and the teachers are leaving the country because the salary is too low. textbooks were reported to contain errors too, so ang information nga mabasahan sa atong students kay sayop na daan. nig abot sa balay, instead of studying kay diretso na dayon ug watch ug TV, mag friendster, gaming, chat, etc. hehehe...
