    Default DOH: Embalmer Licensure Guidelines

A friend of mine would be taking this exam pero kakita siya sa ka way klaro sa sistema.

    1. Requirements not posted on their website. (Naay link when you search but "file not found" if iclick)
    2. Schedule is tentative. Place of Exam tentative.
    3. You need to enroll to a review center to be able to take the exams. (AFAIK, cheapest is 15k, that is from the review center of the owner of cosmo. 5 days review. Less than 10 review centers are accredited by DOH)

Grabe kaayong pangwarta, ultimo licensya sa embalmer daginoton pa jud. Di ba kaha ni sabot sa mga dagkong Funeraria ug DOH since most review centers, if not all, are owned by rich mortuary services owners.

I don't think so. A while ago, a couple of examiners were "fired" because of unethical dealings with some review centers. The DOH is very careful about this, kay dugay naman ni nga isyu. So I can say, there is nothing suspicious about it at all. Not all review centers are owned by mortuary service owners, in fact the best review center in the country is "independent". The fee is around 15k, bur the review lasts about 2-3 weeks, and it is quite thorough. Dili man mandatory ang review, pero you have a better chance of passing the exam kung mag review ka. The embalmer exam is not as easy as you may think, daghang anatomy and physiology ana, and to an ordinary embalmer who never took any anatomy classes, that can be difficult.

I beg to disagree maam. Have seen the application form for the licensure exams? Maybe not owned but tied up. Are you sure 2-3weeks? HAve you tried asking the one from cosmo? it's a week and not 2-3 weeks. Also, my friend is done with anatomy since she's a licensed pharmacist. Can you name the review center that you said "best" and "independent"? If you say nothing suspicious on government office dealings, that's a big joke!

Yes they have licensed. Dili ka kabastabasta balsamar if wala ka lisensya. Also, mmortuary science course in US or Canada is very expensive.

Junmar, wala nako kahibaw unsa ilang patakaran karon, but when I took the embalmer's exam in 2003, I reviewed at the Ongchangco Review Center in Manila for about 3 weeks. They've been giving reviews to hopeful test takers for many, many years. Ang kanang review center sa mga Dychangco (Cosmo), bag-o pa man na, I think 2004 lang na. Kung gusto imong friend mag self-review lang, puede man na ba. She just needs to apply and process all the papers for the exam herself (in person) sa DOH Manila. Again, I don't know kung nausab na ba ilang patakaran, pero adtong 2003 nga ni exam ko, dili mandatory nga mag review center ka. Ambot lang kaha ron.

Is your friend an experienced embalmer or a punerarya owner who just needs an embalmer license para maka sign siya sa death certificate? Adtong 2003, naa'y dakong kontrobersya involving another review center in Manila and some DOH examiners. Naay palusot gihimo ang review center para 100% passing sila, pero there was an internal investigation, ug na futbol ang mga guilty examiners. The review center was closed down. And DOH after that, got a lot stricter.

I am a pharmacist too, but I was glad to take that review course. Again, the test is not easy. Bisan graduate ka ug healthcare nga kurso, you need to study for it. After the pen and paper test, there is a practical test. The practical test was tough for me, because you're in the embalming room with 4 or 5 cadavers, and you are made to demonstrate the "proper way" of embalming, while a bunch of examiners hover around you, firing questions at you one after another.

DOH hands out a reviewer for the law part of the test, she can ask for it inig process niya. Aside from medical questions, daghan pud legal questions sa exam.

    Good Luck sa imong friend.

In the US, you need to go to school for 18 months to get licensed as an embalmer.

Ongchangco is a good review center, that's the one in Mapua in Sta. Cruz if am not mistaken. Their enrolment fee now is 20k, one month but only half day. Yes my friend is an experienced embalmer and they owned a funeral service.

Also, klaro kaayo ang reason nga mandatory ang review... klaro nga naay pursyento. Wa gani klaro ang schedule when and where.

Aw kana kay convinced naman ka sa imong kaugalingon nga "klaro" na kaayo, nothing anyone will say or do can make you believe otherwise. You will believe what you want to believe. Maybe you can tell Mike Enriquez para ma Imbestigador, para ma justify imong "klaro" nga factoid.
