    Default PC keeps on Restarting

    Hello Istoryans,

Tabang... Ako PC nag cge lang ug restart. After POST is displayed and Windows are starting to load it will restart. I press F8 during start and disabled the AUTO RESTART ON ERROR, restart lang gihapon sya without displaying any Error message.

I inserted Windows XP CD and try to repair using the Recovery option. But PC will also restart after loading Windows Setup files. I also tried Ubuntu live cd but it will restart also after loading same as windows.

I believe Hard disk is OK as i can read it if I make it slave to other PC. Memory is also OK tested with other PC. I'm using only the builtin Video.

My Mobo is P5S800-VM. I also updated the BIOS but same result.

I also checked the PSU voltage (and got these voltage 12V and 5V - using only analog tester). Replace it with working PSU from other unit and again same result.

What do you think is the problem? Motherboard?

    Thank you daan...

Try kuno booting ubuntu. PERO use a dedicated video card and only 1 stick of RAM. If it will not boot sucessfully check your processor heatsink if any of its four locks are loose.

From what you have described it could be the processor heatsink not being seated properly and thus causing the restart.

can you check the temperature of your processor or motherboard at your BIOS? and reseat your RAM or maybe use good working RAM.. and check your current RAM to other PC supported with its type of the motherboard. Observe and check if the problem exists again...

your computer must've encountered a bluescreen or a stop error code but automatic restart may be enabled that is why computer cycles on a restart.

give me a few minutes para mangita ug way na ma disable nato ang automatic restart para kita ta sa bluescreen and then we can apply the necessary troubleshooting steps.

in the meantime, try booting to safe mode or safe mode with networking using the F8 key on your POST screen, if the bluescreen is kernel-wide, i'm sure the error would come up in safe mode but will not restart automatically. kung naa ka internet, safe mode with networking tapos, post here kung naa naka ana nga mode para ma check nato ang minidumps.

    **edit**

so far, wala pa ko nakit-an nga bypass sa automatic restart on errors sa winxp, if you can get to safe mode with networking or if you have a different computer with internet access, download and install this:

    Windows Offline Crash Diagnostics

then click start > run. type 'ocadiagnostic' follow the on-screen instructions. this will upload the minidumps to microsoft and interpret the bluescreen for you and will give you the driver/reason what caused the crash, post it in here para ma address nato.

btw, this is a similar tool already available in windows vista - mas comprehensive lang ang sa vista kay mo-provide na ug resolution.
