Diving: Rexel Ryan Fabriga, Sheila Mae Perez
    Shooting: Eric Ang
Swimming: Miguel Molina, James Walsh, Ryan Arabejo, Daniel Coakley, Christel Simms
Taekwondo: Tshomlee Go, Mary Antoinette Rivero
    Weightlifting: Hidilyn Diaz

Highlighted are athletes who competed at the 2004 Olympics held at Athens, Greece.

    Flashback:
Going back to 2004, Mary Antoinette "Toni" Rivero came a game short of winning a bronze medal in taekwondo and had the best finish in the 2004 Olympic Games for Philippines. She defeated Vanina Sanchez Beron of Argentina (10-10) via superiority in her first fight and defeated Charmie Sobers of Netherlands (10-4) in the quarterfinals before losing to Elisavet Mystakidou of Greece (2-3) for a slot for the gold medal match. She lost to Hwang Kyun-Sun of South Korea for the bronze medal match.

So far, Philippines has yet to win a gold medal in the Olympics. The closest Philippines have done was in 1964 in Tokyo when Anthony Villanueva won silver in boxing for the men's featherweight category and in 1996 when Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco won silver in boxing for the men's light flyweight division. Other than them, Filipino winners (bronze) in the Olympics are: Teofilo Yldefonso (1928 Amsterdam Swimming Men's 200 meter breaststroke and 1932 Los Angeles, Swimming Men's 200 meter breaststroke), Simeon Toribio (1932 Los Angeles, Athletics Men's high jump), Jose Villanueva (1932 Los Angeles, Boxing Men's bantamweight), Miguel White (1936 Berlin, Athletics Men's 400 meter hurdle), Leopoldo Serantes (1988 Seoul, Boxing Men's light flyweight), Roel Velasco (1992 Barcelona, Boxing Men's lght flyweight).

Di ko familiar sa other sports but I think the best chance that we've got, setting aside luck, is in Taekwondo. Both Go and Rivero are seasoned international veterans that have competed and won numerous tournaments worldwide. One serious threat is standing in Go's way though is Chinese Taipei's Chu Mu Yen. Chu is hailed as the best in their division since around 2002 and defeated Go once, 0-7!!

Manny Pacquiao ang flag bearer sa Philippines!!
