IN the first phase of the pre-annual general inspection (AGI), the Cebu City Police Office got a 100 percent rating from a team of inspectors in its “immediate action drill” (IAD) yesterday.
The IAD has showcased the readiness of the city police force in dealing scenarios in the rural areas such as campaign against insurgents.
Complete with a team leader represented by Senior Insp. Sarah Jean Recla of the Security and Service Group (SSG), a lead scout and a sniper, the IAD team managed to penetrate a supposed rebel-infested area and overrun the camp.
The perfect execution of the team members, which all came from the SSG or officers assigned in the city’s mountain barangays, earned the CCPO the appreciation from the inspectors composed of officials from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.
Preparation
The PRO7 has been conducting the pre-AGI in all its police offices in Central Visayas in preparation for the actual AGI next month.
For CCPO, the pre-AGI will last until today.
Senior Insp. Crisanto Duque, one of the inspectors, advised CCPO Director Patrocinio Comendador to maintain their IAD performance when the actual AGI will be made by a team of inspectors from Camp Crame.
Comendador, in an interview with reporters, said Cebu City is a unique place for the police to secure. Unlike other cities where it is mainly composed of flat lands, Cebu City is a combination of rural and urban lands.
This is the reason the city police force does not only train on handling urban crisis, but are also ready to response to alarms in the mountain barangays.
“Although, this (the activity yesterday) is just a pre-AGI, I have told my men to treat this as the real McCoy,” he said.
Simulation
A drill about a bank robbery that led to a hostage-taking was also presented by the CCPO, highlighting the skills of the Special Weapons and Tactics, the Crime Scene Investigation Team and other special units in handling such crisis.
After the inspection at the city police headquarters inside the Camp Sotero Cabahug, the team of inspectors proceeded to the police stations. (JST)
