Default Lapu-Lapu gloats over score. (by AIM)

    Sun.Star Cebu - Lapu-Lapu gloats over score

How the heck did that happen? When every businessman in Cebu knows how LapuLapu City Hall is run. Now I am seriously beginning to doubt the credibility of AIM.

"Assistant City Attorney Michael Dignos said the two studies are more believable than the unfounded accusations by some critics.

“We are not paying for the study. We do not even know there is such a study so it’s difficult to rebuff it,” he said."

    YEAH RIGHT!

hahaha...with miles and miles--exaggeration of course, but not far from the truth--of unpaved roads and perhaps the country's most stubborn--and not in a good way--mayor, this is a real shocker indeed

Asst. City Legal Counsel Dignos is right...

That might be an angle, but Mr. Pelaez is right too and accurate to say the least. BTW, the Pelaezs' as an old prominent family in Cebu has never been linked to any corruption and irregularity while the Mayor is being investigated for corruption on record. It is only natural that businessmen keep their mouths shut for fear of retaliation from LapuLapu LGU and who is on the side of the mayor? The Gaisanos? Mo katawa na lang ko. Care to check the record of the Gaisanos as businessmen.

Mao bitaw na ang gi-ingon, "Evil triumphs because good men do nothing."

Why? What do you know about Gaisano's. It seems that you know a lot. How can you say accurate that he still proves nothing.

Because of columns that commented on published issues raised against Efrain Pelaez, the businessman had been blaming me in various forums last week for all the positive press his future political adversary Mayor Arturo Radaza and Lapu-Lapu City had been getting the past few months.

The accusations portray me as somebody who could manipulate not just Cebu media but also giant private corporations and government agencies. If I am a PR man, Mr. Pelaez is doing me a great marketing service. Unfortunately, Mr. Pelaez is widely off mark.

I am not responsible for the Weigel affidavits that exposed his unsavory dealings with the late mayor Ernest Weigel Jr., the surveys of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) that painted a positive picture for the business climate in Lapu-Lapu City, the dinner hosted by Mayor Radaza for the big business players in Mactan, nor the letter Michael Gleissner of Bigfoot wrote debunking rumors spread by Pelaez about the alleged corruption at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall.

Nor was I responsible for the prominent treatment of pro-Radaza and pro-Lapu-Lapu City news and opinions that came out in all local dailies.

Accusing me of such is an insult to concerned Cebu reporters, editors, and columnists who were only doing their jobs.

I am only a columnist who took interest in the brewing controversies in Lapu-Lapu City a month after the first of the issues against Pelaez surfaced.

Unfortunately for the businessman, the issues undermined his moral ascendancy as an anti-graft crusader. And he obviously took this personally.

I would just like to point out that as a columnist, I took positions and expressed opinions of public interest based on published news reports and other information gathered. Please don't malign journalists who do not agree with you. Don't shoot the messenger, just respond to the message.

And the latest message is a new AIM survey that again paints a picture contrary to what Pelaez wants to depict.

That is only what Mr. Pelaez can do, expose and pave way for an investigation. How can he present solid evidence, when these are in the hands of the culprits?

Since media too MOST OF THE TIME has no solid evidence, then let us abolish media as well.

You don't know how the Gaisanos do business? Are you from Cebu?

Abolish the media? Media is good sometimes can also influence bad to people it just depends on us how to evaluate the issue. We don't need to always believe on them because it's also their personal views and analysis of the issues.

You were just reiterating my point.
