need advise, please help

guys, i need advise on a prospective career path. just quit the call center industry and aint no way m going back there.

dont know much about programming but i do know flash 8, can create simple exams and presentations using actionscript, but i dont know if id get this type of job here in cebu

also, if i go to programming, what language do i start with, when all that's in my mind is creating database applications.. kasi may background me sa jurassic namely cobol and i do know a bit of sql

right now, la magawa, experimenting still with flash database kasi un lang talaga alam ko..

please advise on what language is most practical for me..

for entry level position, mudawat ang accenture og programmers, regardless of course, basta lang kapasar ka sa test and interview. i-train mn ka nila for 3-6 months, i think. naa koi skulm8 pag highskul, psych iya course nya nakawork siya sa accenture as programmer. nya i think naa mn silay cobol sa accenture, not sure though.

btw, im not working for accenture, but masuya ko sa benefits sa akong berks nga nagwork dinha compared to my very basic benefits. hehehe

as for what programming language, since kibaw mn kag flash, i'd say go for web app development, compliment it with php and javascript with AJAX concepts, or any other web-oriented programming language.

why not learn AS3? it's a great programming language, and since you already know AS2/Flash 8, it shouldn't be too hard.
It's got a bright future on RIA's as well as desktop applications (AIR).
It's really fun too, since it's really easy to create something cool.
i don't know how wanted AS3/Flash developers around here are though.. (i'm passively looking for a Flash job)

@planet_ttc: fyi accenture mainframe programmer uses cobol. and yup, if you're good in analysis then why not try it. you don't have to wori whether you have encountered the language or not, naay man jud training, and if you're good in analylizing then there's no reason na maglisud ka. im a programmer myself, and the language we are using is um, lets say not so common, i dont even have an idea about it when i applied lol, but madala rajud kau bsta kamao lang ka. it all boils down kung unsa ka mu analyze, plus a bit of dedication to training. ehe
