    Default DVD-ROM Problem.

Hello mga Bai, I really need your help...

Just this morning, I intended to burn some files into a data DVD using my laptop (Acer Aspire 4520G). Well, I popped in a blank DVD, opened Nero, and waited in vain for the blank DVD to be ready...Nothing happened...The DVD-ROM kept on spinning and reading for a very long time without any result...What I did was shut my laptop down and once off, I used the emergency eject.

I turned it back on again and tried in CDs (not DVDs). It works just fine. But when I would pop in a DVD - blank or not, it wont read it.

Unsa kaha ang problema ani mga Bai?

I thought maybe the the DVD read head might be burnt-out, but I dont think so since I RARELY burn or read from DVDs.

Anyone encountered this problem, too? How did you solve it?

I really need your help mga Bro's, I need to burn the files before next month because its kind og urgent...

What do you guys think I should do?

    Thanks,

    Alel

I dont think so because it still works fine with CDs.

I think it a software hitch. But I cant seem to grasp what software hitch.

But if it really is a hardware issue, I wont sell it anyway. It's still within the warranty bracket (one year.). Just bought it last August.

Thanks for the suggestion though Bro..

sometimes it's a media problem, try a different brand first.

um, another thing - u said DVD-ROM, i hope that's just an error on your part coz DVD-ROMs don't write, they just read DVDs. make sure it is a DVD Writer.

try this, please...it may not contain the exact symptom but i've tried this troubleshooting with a lot of computers na...if it doesn't work, then, replace your optical drive.

Ston3sour: Nope, the DVDs are OK. I tried it with other PCs.

Poldopunk: Thanks Sir! I hope it would be of help.

if u have an OS CD(e.g. XP MCE or Vista), try booting from it at least u can isolate ur OS and the drive functionality
