difference between dvd-r & dvd+r

Hey can anyone tell me the difference between a dvd-r & a dvd+r disc? What are the advantage and dis-advantage of the two?

There's almost no difference in them at all, according to this article: http://www.videohelp.com/dvd
The only difference is compatibility with certain drives. Don't know where you got the info that DVD+R burns faster or that DVD-R records slower.

DVD+R follow the standards for Computers/PC while DVD-R follow the standards for mga DVD players.

Suwayi nang sauna pa nga dvd players.. dili ka basa ug DVD+R. These days, the new players can play DVD+R fine.

I know DVD+R is best suited for data, while DVD-R is best suited for DVD movies(compatibility with all dvd players)

One difference is that DVD+R can be written as DVD-R or DVD+R. While DVD-R can only be written as DVD-R.

The DVD-R format was developed by Pioneer in autumn of 1997. It is supported by most DVD players, and is approved by the DVD Forum. (hence the compatibility with dvd players)

The DVD+R format is divergent from the DVD-R format. Hybrid drives that can handle both, often labeled "DVD±RW", are very popular since there is not yet a single standard for recordable DVDs. There are a number of significant technical differences between the dash and plus formats, and although most consumers would not notice the difference, the plus format is considered by some to be better engineered. (hence making it the better choice for PC/ data storage).....

I did my search in Wikipedia, and while you were right about a few things, I found nothing that supports this statement of yours regarding DVD+RW:

You are simply making your own conclusion based on:

The Wikipedia article(s) says absolutely nothing about DVD-R not being better for for PC/data storage..
