For those who would wish to learn and understand Indigenous Martial Arts, this is the forum for you. The Center for the Propagation of Indigenous Martial Arts is currently in its full swing. Classes are being handled on 3 indigenous forms of Martial Arts namely Pencak Silat, Sikaran- Arnis, and Vovinam Vietvodao.

since this is not a commercial club and training is free, we are currently just doin training at the Cebu City Sports center ( abellana ) every sunday. Enrollees will be prescreened...

session sked : Vovinam 3PM- 4:30PM

Pencak Silat 4:30PM - 6PM

Sikaran 6PM- 7:30 PM

Of the 3, Sikaran-Arnis is the only indigenous martial arts in the phils..
Finally, sikaran reaches cebu. More power to you guys.

thanks.. and you are right, Sikaran is indigenous to the Philippines but some styles of Pencak Silat is also indigenous here. The Silat style that is being offered in our group is Silat Asli which is indigenous to the Yakan tribe in Basilan. however, right now we are focusing more on sports silat as a way of preparing practitioners to the formal traditional silat training. Vovinam Vietvodao meanwhile is indigenous to Vietnam and we are the first group in the Philippines right now which teaches the basics of this wonderful art..

Milestone is again set as the Society for the Propagation of Pencak Silat delivered 3 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze in the 9th National Pencak Silat Championships held for the very first time in Cebu City last June 3-5, 2008. This is Cebu's first participation in any Pencak silat tournament...
