Default Overclocking: What are the Factors?

I have a Q6600 G0 using the included Heatsink Fan and a GA-X38-DS5 Mobo and i'm trying to overclock it to at least 3.3GHz.

I'm having problems when going for 3.3GHz using trial and error of vcore from 1.25-1.40 but still it cant enter the bios and just resets back.

At the moment im only at 3GHz with a vcore of 1.25 idle temp at 51C and Load temp at 65C.

I've read about people mentioning about their RAM when they talk about overclocking.

    the question...
Is the RAM a factor to have a stable OC?
and also do i need to have a very low temperature to make my OC stable?
and what are other factors in overclocking?

yes...your RAM is a very big factor when overclocking...for sure mao na dili mo boot imong system bec. your ram can't handle the speed ramp...i don't know what ram are u using but in mine...my OCZ XTC Platinum DDR2-800 rans very stable at 972MHz @ 2.1V...giving it a slight voltage bump to 2.2V it can run at 1015MHz...ordinary RAMS would fry at those voltages...do not touch that vcore unless you know what u are doing...u also have a mid high temp so u need a good proc cooler...for a start...BEFORE U OVERCLOCK YOUR SYSTEM...read...read...and read articles on overclocking...naa daghan sa internet...always remember this: "those who love to play with fire SHOULD be ready to suffer the burning"...good luck...

Yup. Also, when overclocking, it is NOT advisable to increment at high levels. Try 1 mhz increments to see how far you could go coz not all processors are built the same way.

at the moment i'm just using a Transcend 2GB pc800 dr2 ram. 1 pc. i'll buy another one so that it'll be in dual mode this week.

and about cooling, i'll also buy a thermalright ultra 120 extreme this week. ^_^

do you think if i add another ram (making it 2pcs 2GB pc800) can make it SOMEHOW stable on POST?

I too have a Q6600 G0 stepping and run it at 3.28GHz which is absolutely stable with my DDR2-800 memory.
Everything higher will lead to reboot and reset of the Bios. I think the memory is the factor.
    Temps are ok (36C average).
