We've heard all the horror stories, a really good book makes its way to the big screen and screws up.. But it's not all bad news, some movies manage to do justice to their source material..
One of the best for me was The Green Mile and Hearts in Atlantis both by Stephen King. The adapted screenplay was just brilliant, while it did not achieve an immersive effect as the books, it was interesting enough.
Harry Potter, of course not all will agree with me on this one, especially on Harry's 4th adventure (which was too short in the movie), but the transition was generally good and attractive..
The Lord of the Rings, yet another where few would agree.. Many details have been removed and some are blatantly edited.. But still it managed to be captivating and breathtaking..
Memoirs of a Geisha.. not quite as good as the book, but manages to be on par with some chapters.. and the visuals are mesmerizing something I could not realize while reading the book.
