Fandub (short for "fan dubbed") is a copy of a foreign movie or television show which has been dubbed by "fans" into their native language. The most fan dubbed shows are mostly Japanese Anime like Sailor Moon or Sonic X when fans take a raw (Japanese language) anime series and dub it themselves.

Fandubs are generally avoided by the anime community at large due to problems with the quality of both the voice acting and the translations themselves, Fansubs are usually the preferred medium.

Dubs done by professonal actors don't count as Fandubs...

I'm a fan of fandubs!!.. incoherent and downright funny..!!! but some actually are quite ok.. I watch fandubs just to see the other side of things.. you know independently done, with so limited budget and the sounds feel so much like karaoke..
