just an inquiry... as i've noticed, nursing as a profession and as a stepping stone has been exaggerated by many institutions... the question is, are nurses satisfied by their lifestyle? how many nurses are successful after how many years?

Think of it this way, if nursing were so nice, why don't the americans or brits take up nursing themselves? That is because nursing is considered a menial low paying job to these people and they'd rather have other people do it for them. The nursing fad has been exaggerated by most people touting it as the ticket out of poverty. What people really need is sound financial education so they can be rich in their own land. I know for a fact that secretaries in certain countries are being paid more than nurses.

its just a stepping stone. you cant compare a secretary abroad to a secretary here or a nurse there to a nurse here. but being a nurse abroad is certainly much better than working as one here in our country. the income disparity is just too great but its no walk in the park abroad too. OFW's work their asses of just to make life brighter for their families. but to keep and foster their hard earned dough thats where financial education and literacy comes in.
It is an opportunity but not a bed of roses. Nursing is a fad right now and almost everybody thinks that the opportunity nursing brings is greater than other academic programs or professions, when in fact everything is almost equal. What most people see is so one-sided. But at least I'm so glad almost everybody is taking up nursing para at least the competition at the technological field will lessen.![]()
perfectly agree with your comment... perodili ba kuyaw gibuhat sa atong mga skuls nagi overpopularize and nursing? what will happen when there will be a downdraft on nursing demand?Originally Posted by mamalaktol
If mag "downdraft" well thank you nalang sa schools who gave the students (nurses) a good education. It's not only in nursing.. ka daghan graduates (lesserr than nursing though) sa engineering or commerce ug uban pang korso and the school cant really guarantee jobs in the particular field once they graduate. In other words, nobody cares, its all business, Next fad napod...Originally Posted by emow
NECESSITY is the answer...
daghan pa baby boomers so the demand won't go down soon.
kung ma-lift ang retrogression mo-kalit siguro ug medyo hinay ang demand than the usual pero naa gihapon.
the U.S. needs more PT's, OT's and pharmacists. Pharmacists pay more than nurses but the board exam is more difficult.
