    Default SACRED HEART SCHOOL-Canduman Branch

My son will be in high School next year, I'm scouting for a good reputable school. I'm a LCCian (formerly Holy Child School) Alumni but morag feel nako e-enroll sya sa Sacred Heart bcoz of the chinese curriculum and accesibility wise that I'm after for , I also try to consider DON Bosco for their technical program but I was told that DON Bosco now is not accepting new enrollee that does not belong to the less fortunate families. Please do share me your thoughts/comments and remarks about this institution, guys and thanks in advance for all your inputs.

    Hi there

Sacred Heart School - Jesuit is a good pick.
I am an SHS-J alumnus and I can surely say that I am proud that my parents chose SHSJ as my educational home back when I was in PRESCHOOL till I graduated Secondary Level.

SHS-J is a Loyola School (Jesuit School) connected with the Ateneo Universities - Loyola Schools all around the Philippines.
Surely most of the students in SHSJ are chinese and yes from creme dela creme society, but humbly speaking, we strive for excellence and SHSJ makes ordinary individuals extra ordinary.

The school may be expensive but I can surely say it is all worth it.

The Aboitiz, Aldeguers, Go,Lim graduated from SHSJ...What more can you ask for. Maybe your child will be one of the great leaders in the future.

but if you want an alternate school try Don Bosco, they produce good students too.

First, I want to thank you for your very informative feedback bro, Very well said. Actually, I already visited the school last month with my son, and inquire at the admin. Honestly, we 're not well to do just an average income family but I already allocate sufficient funds for my kid's schooling .Yes, we do have chinese roots too, my mom spent her primary & secondary level at a Chinese school in Davao City,My nieces & nephews are currently attending their pre-elem studies in Chinese institutions in Davao.I can't speak Chinese but my mom and the rest of my kins on maternal side do speak Amoy.I want my kids not to be left behind as not to make them feel OP (out of place) or intimidated everytym we have family gatherings.I think sending him here in this school is the RIGHT CHOICE  my only worry is...if he can'be able to pass the entrance exam for him to qualify.
and if he qualifies do you think he'll not be having tough times to adjust on his first year, since he did not spend his elementary from SHS? Is it a big deal?

    HI there!

You dont really need to be that rich to enrol your child at SHSJ. We're not that rich naman eh.
Anyhow, It's natural to have a culture shock but if your family is descent enough he'll surely cope up.
The culture in Sacred Heart is comparable to Ateneo de Manila University. I just went to ADMY last January and lo and behold, I felt SHSJ and missed it too bad. The aura there is too good and your child will love it there. The education there is good too and with chinese lessons, uhm, if he really likes chinese like learn it very well get him a tutor instead too because if you only depend only with the lessons he wont learn that well so he needs one to one chinese tutor too... in my case, My highest score in chinese back when I was in 4th year was 93% but I didnt learn that much since I didnt find it important in my part hehe..bad example...haha

I began studying in SHS-J when I was in 2nd yr and graduated there. It is always hard to start in a new environment. and im sure that he/she can make new friends there. it won't be that hard since the students there, are warm in welcoming new students. so that won't be a problem at all.^___^ when it comes to chinese, If you want to give your son/daughter a good chinese background, I wouldn't recomend Sacred. But if your child is really determined in learning chinese then he/she would really learn..^___^

sacred heart graduates have been living below its reputation lately... even previous SHS-SJ teachers will say... i'm not one of its graduates but i havesome shs sj friends of recent years... no doubt, you can spot an shs sj grad where ever he will go in college in cebu... they are distinctly divided into two: the Loyolalites, living the ideals of St. Ignatius, and the spoiled brats...if you want to find out more about the quality of graduates of SHS SJ,just chat with graduates fromother schools in different colleges.. i'm not bad mouthing SHS graduates.. i'm merely stating the sad truth about the recent years... i hope i will be proven wrong...

i believe i can attest to that. im an alumnus of shsj and indeed some products of this school are students many would look upto coz of the way they bring theirselves. they usually stand out. and alas, even as an alumnus, i can really say that there are really some who just thinks they are all that just because they have the money.. it would always depend on the student as to where he would like to be led.. good luck with ur decision.. but academically speaking, shsj has a good training... they prepare the students well for college.. ^___^

You're right wishluck a lot of shsj alumni are living below its reputation.
one of the verse in proverbs states that its stupid to say "It is better in the old days.." but I cant help it but reality is sad ...It is better than the old days...where alumni of shsj live with the ideals of st.ignatius.
Now, a lot of alumni are ruining that image and im sad..eventhough I graduated batch 2006. I can say that I am real proud of the graduates of 2007. I just find their batch in high places, soaring like eagles, successful like eagles.

But still I am confident that SHSJ will be back to normal, with its new school and new atmoshpere, Im sure the spirit of shsj will come back!

You won't regret enrolling your son there. I am a alumni with SHS-SJ formerly SHS-Boys. Batch 1994. When your son will go to college, he won't have a hard time because he has a solid foundation from high school.
