YES... Its worth watching!..Its not the usual teen-age cheesy flicks.

    heres the excerpts from IMDB

A dock worker Jude travels to America in the 1960s to find his estranged father. There he falls in love with sheltered American teenager Lucy. When her brother Max is drafted to fight in the Vietnam War, they become involved in peace activism. The film title and main characters are named after various songs by The Beatles. Written by MIB6116

Musical based on The Beatles songbook and set in the 60s England, America, and Vietnam. The love story of Lucy and Jude is intertwined with the anti-war movement and social protests of the 60s. Over 30 Beatles' songs are woven into the plot together with visual allusions to films Help! (1965), A Hard Day's Night (1964), Magical Mystery Tour (1967) (TV), Yellow Submarine (196 and Let It Be (1970). Written by Steve Shelokhonov

An original musical film, Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and animation, the film is paired with many songs by The Beatles that defined the time.

At first you'll think its boring because its musical, but they added flare into its theatrical scenes with the crisp and cool arrangements of the BEATLES songs.

Evan Rachel Wood and Jim Sturgess has the right chemistry on this film being both young but effective actor and a good singer.[br]Posted on: March 23, 2008, 12:59:54 AM_________________________________________________I cant tell you the whole story but I can assure you that its worth watching especially if your a fan of the BEATLES.
and if your into mind liberating story of idealism, love and music-basically thats where the story evolves.

I’m a fan of the Beatles and I thought this movie absolutely butchered the songs. The movie was filled with special effects and sorts. It was great... visually and that's about the only good thing I can say about the movie. I know that musicals rarely translate well in the silver screen but movies like Chicago, The Producers and etc. have shown that it can be done. The trailer is actually better than watching the whole movie. It had a weak plot, weak character development and even weaker script. Poor boy leaves Liverpool to go the USA, meets rich girl… falls in love yadda yadda… Add in a handful of 60’s cliché, shameless ripoffs of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix and that’s about it. The scenes often times had awkward transitions. If you look at it it’s actually a series of music videos of Beatles covers that lasts about 2 hours. I enjoyed the visual aspect of the movie... its exquisitely done but the plot just kills it for me.

[color=brown] i agree with rockart... the plot was lousy, script was poor as well as the characters..though they did well in their song interpretations and choreography was excellent but would have been better kung nice jud and story... overall assessment = fair enough .. but if i werent a Beatles fan, i would be sleeping throughout the the movie. Btw, t.v. carpio aka prudence is part filipina
