I would recommend you research about Artic Cooling MX-2 Thermal compound, Im using that stuff also and i highly recommend it.

thermal paste is not even the same as thermal compound/goo.
thermal paste is the kind of paste used in heat spreaders/heat sinks to make sure they stick to the chips without the need of any retention mechanism.
All thermal interface materials are not created equal. Last time I checked MX2 beat Arctic Silver 5 as top TIM.

I would recommend the Tuniq TX2 beats As5 and Mx2 also Should be available around mid march

unsay basis nako? i've been working on nearly 2000 PCs/workststations everyday for almost 3years now. And i havent heard of any of our computers that goes down or get damaged because of the thermal paste/compound or whatever u called it. Actually we just use cheap thermal paste brought at Fastwin and we dont have problems on it. This is my basis. and id like to hear yours.

It would matter much if your cpu, specially the processor's temperature is hot, heat transfer from your cpu to the heat sink is much faster with better quality thermal compound.
