There should be a separate 4pin located somewhere else in the motherboard, that extra 4pin is used to supply additional 12v to the motherboard, if there isnt any and the board boots then its simply not required for operation.Originally Posted by cloud
On my end im using a 24Pin + 8pin + 4pin(molex) for the Abit IP35-E the extra 8pin ensures that the CPU gets a dedicated dual 12v line.

most mboard manuals mo ingon na sila nga puede ra 20 pins psu interface...there is an instruction on how to plug the 20pins to the 24pins slot...wala ra man effect so far sa ako na try but kung dili ka comfortable then buy the 20-to-24pins adapter nalang...last time ni buy ko tag 200 man tingali tu...
True there are no side effects if the motherboard was designed for 20pin operation only.
