    Default UPS (daisy-chaining, connect to AVR,SURGE protector,extension wires)

    Hi,

    I just wanna ask if it's possible/advisable to connect AVR,surge protector & extension wire to my UPS?

    I have to UPS by the way, one is 'back-UPS CS 500' & a 'SmartUPS 1000' made by APC. I've read from the product guide from APC website that these products have built-in (sort-of) surge protector and AVR. But I wonder if it's alright. I wanted to connect my DSL modem & switch to my UPS.

    Also, is this ok?

    outlet->AVR(giant G-500LC)->UPS(500 VA)->PC
    or
    outlet->UPS(500 VA)->AVR(giant G-500LC)->PC
    or
    outlet->UPS(500 VA)->PC
    |_>extension wire (ext wire and PC are connected to UPS)

    I tried google already but I didnt get the info I wanted.

    Thanks a lot!

    UPS is more capable in protecting your PC than AVR....

    your PCs Power Supply (PSU) has built in regulator, no need to use AVR, but if your power source is flactuating best bet is a UPS rather than AVR. AVR is just a simple circuit with relay.

    if you want an avr better get the one which is servo controlled

    what is important is that your pc is connected directly to the UPS

    its also nice if you have an avr then in series with ups to provide a better result since during surge you wont know the extent of that power surge.better to be careful than be sorry.

    outlet->UPS(500 VA)->PC
    |_>extension wire (ext wire and PC are connected to UPS)

    I'll put extension wire on my UPS.
