Hahaha! Funny story but this is TRUE. I was a Starbucks [employee] and has worked for them for more than 4 years specifically here in Cebu. First, the main reason why you got screws in your coffee cup when you dine late at night, because Starbucks usually close around 2-3am [except those that operates 24/7]. As per SOP [standard operating procedure], baristas performed what they call pre-closing cleaning 15 minutes before they officially closed or after they do 'last call'. Pre-closing chores includes cleaning and maintenance on equipments, utensils, etc. They do this to save some time closing the entire store. Baristas would usually clean or closed out a certain thing or area that is not needed anymore.
The Espresso machine, Pastry case, Lobby, etc needs to be thouroughly clean and ready for the next day operation [baristas take out the filters inside the machine that filters tha coffee ground whenever they brew or pull a shopt for your latte or espresso.
So, I guess what really happened here was that they [barista assigned to clean and closed the espresso machine] did a pre-cleaning on espresso machine [this machine has four porta-filters or four brewers] and she perhaps cleaned all of these filters and its screws while the store is still wide open. Tsk, tsk, tsk! This is not proper based on the company's SOP but unfortunately, they didnt follow this simple rule.
With regards to your email message to Rustans Coffee, I am not sure why they didnt respond at all. But usually, whenever they receive any complaints from customers and employees, they responded and dealt with it accordingly. Starbucks Coffee, as far as I know is very particular when it comes to Customer Service and Satisfactions. In fact, they are known world wide for this. Are you sure you shoot your email to the right bin? Where did you get their email add from?! On the other hand, there's another way for you to make or write a complaint to the management by their 'How are we doing?' flyers. This is 24/7 available at the condimant bar. This piece of paper contains email, phone and even main office address.
About the comments of other Istoryans here, thank you coz you made me smile just by reading your possitive and negative comments. Indeed, we cannot please everybody. Peace to you guys!![]()
Bloodguilt!
I feel more "at home" in SM North Wing
If you're a regular, they would know your
drink right away which makes you extra
special! The baristas would also suggest
what other drinks or pastries you should try
out to enjoy in your next visit -- this means
they REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE SELLING
and oh, the baristas have the BEST WINNING
SMILES as you enter their cafe
Now that's what I call a service of warmth and
happiness over a cup of joe![]()
