Whistles were handed out to guests who entered the NBC Tent last night, September 10, during the 2009 Cosmo Bachelor Bash. In line with its theme "Cosmo Cell Block 69," spectators were supposed to help capture the "bad boys" by blowing on their whistles when they see them coming. Special guests were given water guns so they could spray their favorite hunks.
All was set for the eagerly awaited annual Cosmopolitan Magazine (Philippines) event where young, good-looking, muscled, and expectedly virile men appear before a crowd of well-dressed but screaming women and men. (Cosmopolitan Magazine is published by Summit Media Inc.)
However, when the 69 Bachelors and Celebrity Centerfolds appeared in their underwear—their half-naked bodies in full display—the audience ended up simply ogling the muscular men and their photo shoots and videos.
Fun, fearless females had the chance to see men acting out life behind prison bars—the fights, the power struggles, and more.
Around 8:30 p.m., host Joey Mead started the show by conducting naughty games sponsored by various companies. By 9 p.m., she was interrupted by a loud alarm, signaling the arrival of the "bad boys." Handcuffed guys entered the ramp, eliciting cheers from the well-heeled crowd.
"Jail warden" Joey Mead ordered the men to hit the showers and some of them did—practically naked! Some hunks had their back to the audience as they "showered" onstage. Women and gays shrieked when the buff men turned around, each holding a white towel over his private parts.
But the highlight of the evening was still to come. This came with the introduction of the "Most Wanted Criminals," a.k.a. this year's Celebrity Centerfolds.
A short video showed excerpts of the pictorials of the 10 gorgeous hunks handpicked by the Cosmo team. The top ten hunks were charged with various offenses that all had corresponding "punishments."
Case File No. 10 was The Notorious Runway Teaser; No. 9, The Bedside Bandit; No. 8, The Love Drug Dealer; No. 7, The Duke of Delirium; No. 6, The Sensual Cassanova; No. 5, The Sexy Offender; No. 4, The Lone Survivor Pirate; No. 3, The Cyber Peeping Tom; No. 2, The Thief of Hearts; and No. 1, The Mastermind of Desire.
Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson was the last to walk the ramp and he certainly got a lot of cheers and applause from the audience. Wearing a striped prison jumpsuit like the other Celebrity Centerfolds, he pulled this down to reveal his well-developed upper body. The matinee idol then walked quickly from centerstage to the end of the ramp.
"Binilisan ko talaga ang paglakad, nakakahiya, e," he told the press backstage right after the Cosmo Bachelor Bash. He had been preparing for this event for the past two months. He revealed that onscreen partner Kim Chiu wasn't able to attend that night because she had work.
For his jail sentence, Kapuso hunk Aljur Abrenica was ordered to dance, dance, dance! He smiled broadly when he saw loveteam partner Kris Bernal seated in the crowd, taking videos of him and spraying him with water. The young star almost stole the show when he took a mineral-water bottle and drenched his whole body with its contents.
Two Brazilian-Japanese models made it to the ramp this year: Akihiro Sato and Daniel Matsunaga. This marks the second time that Akihiro has been chosen as a Celebrity Centerfold, which was why he was very comfortable onstage. He will be in the latest edition of GMA-7's Celebrity Duets, so women going crazy over him will still get their fill of the fellow.
Soccer player turned reality-show contestant Phil Younghusband walked the ramp confidently with his handcuffed hands placed above his head. He maintained his air of mystery until he took off his mask as he reached the end of the ramp.
First Pinoy Sole Survivor JC Tiuseco teased the crowd when he stopped in the middle of the ramp and put his hands on the zipper of his pants. And then he smiled and wagged his finger as if saying that part was off-limits!
Katorse stars Ejay Falcon and Xian Lim also showed off their well-toned bodies during this event, which ended at around 10:30 p.m. Unfortunately, Sid Lucero and Joem Bascon, two more Cosmo hunks, were unable attend because of work.
Celebrities who watched this year's edition of the Cosmo Bachelor Bash were Carla Abellana, Kris Bernal, Maxene and her sister Saab Magalona—all of whom were first timers to the event.
PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) also spotted IC Mendoza, Ana Capri, and talent manager Maryo J. de los Reyes. Direk Maryo directed Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal in their upcoming film Nandito Ako...Nagmamahal Sa 'Yo.
Among the 69 Bachelors who walked the ramp were Mark Bautista, Carlo Guevarra of Be Bench fame, Eri Neeman, as well as Pinoy Fear Factor participantes Manuel Chua and Jose Sarasola.
Mark exuded a lot of *** appeal when he walked the ramp. He even surprised people when he lowered his pants slightly, much to the delight of the crowd.
As the show ended, confetti rained down on the "bad boys" who were now all free to unleash their naughty side!
The September 2009 issue of Cosmopolitan is now available with Carla Abellana on the cover. It comes with the Cosmo Men supplement containing photos of the 69 Bachelors and the 10 Celebrity Centerfolds.





JC Tiuseco says topless stint at Cosmo Bash is the most daring he'll go



"Noong nasa backstage ako, sobrang kaba talaga. Medyo nanginginig-nginig pa, kasi medyo nag-crash diet ako dahil hindi ako nakapag-gym. Hindi ako nakapag-diet."

Kahit nagsimula bilang modelo si JC Tiuseco at nakarampa na before sa Cosmopolitan Bachelor Bash, hindi pa rin daw talaga maiwasang hindi siya kabahan. Yun ang sinabi niya nang mamataan siya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ilang minuto bago magsimula ang Cosmo Bash '09 noong Huwebes ng gabi sa NBC Tent.

Pero noong rumarampa na raw siya ay nawala na ang kaba niya.

"Sobrang saya at saka, hayun nga, flattered ako at saka honored. Ikaw ba naman, tilian ka ng mga babae, parang nakaka... parang sobrang saya, di ba?"

Dugtong din niya, "Pero noong nasa backstage ako, sobrang kaba talaga. Medyo nanginginig-nginig pa, kasi nga naka-diet pa ako. Medyo nag-crash diet ako dahil hindi ako nakapag-gym. Hindi ako nakapag-diet.

"Pero noong rumarampa na ako, sobrang saya na talaga at pini-feel ko lang yung music."

Habang rumarampa raw siya, nakita niya ang grupo nina Maxene Magalona who went to Cosmo Bash para magbigay ng support sa kanya bilang kasamahan nila sa afternoon series na Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat Sa Akin.

"Masaya naman ako dahil sinusuportahan nila ko at siyempre, pati na rin yung ibang mga Kapuso stars."


TOPLESS. Ano ang nakapagpa-inspire sa kanya sa ginawa niyang pagrampang yun?

"Siyempre, na-inspired ako, nakita ko yung mga tao. Nakita ko kung gaano karami ang mga taong nanonood kaya dun pa lang, na-inspired na 'ko."

Naka-topless lamang siya sa pag-ramp. Sa palagay niya ba, yun na ang pinaka-daring na magagawa niya?

"Oo, e... feeling ko, yun na siguro ang pinaka-daring ko," nakangiti niyang sabi.

Pagkatapos ng show, nakita ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Kris sa backstage ng NBC Tent. Magkatabi na silang ini-interview ni Aljur ng TV at iba pang entertainment press kaya nakisama na rin kami.

"Proud ako! Bumili nga ako ng magazine [Cosmopolitan]. Sabi ko sa kanya, pirmahan niya para sa akin!" natatawang sabi ni Kris tungkol sa special supplement ng Cosmopolitan kung saan nakapaloob ang 69 Bachelors at Centerfolds this year, kabilang na nga si Aljur.

Nagulat daw si Kris sa napanood kay Aljur habang rumarampa ang kapareha.

"Nagulat ako! Kasi, nakita ko talaga yung self-confidence niya at nakita ko rin kung gaano kaganda ang katawan niya. Proud ako sa kanya, ang ganda! The abs! Alam mo yun, talagang tumayo ako at nagtitili ako. Wala akong pakialam. Basta bini-video ko siya. Ganun, grabe!" kuwento niya. (watch video)

ALJUR'S MOMENT. Ayon naman kay Aljur, naka-mask pa lang daw siya nang lumabas sa stage, hinahanap na raw niya si Kris sa audience.

"Naka-mask pa lang ako, hinahanap-hanap ko na siya at siya yung nakita ko. Kaya noong makita ko na siya, wala na akong ibang makita. Very happy ako na nandiyan siya bukod pa sa lahat ng nandito para sa akin.

"At saka, this is my day, after six months of preparation, 'eto na yun. Tapos nandiyan pa ang babaeng gusto kong makita talaga," saad ni Kris.

Ano ba ang naramdaman niya noong rumarampa na siya?

"Parang 'eto na... In six months, yung kulong na parang nagtatago rito [sabay turo sa kanyang dibdib], parang biglang lumabas. Matagal kong pinaghandaan, 'eto na yung payoff. Tapos yung feedback naman ng audience, ang sarap, ang sarap!" sambit niya.

Ano naman ang reaksiyon ni Aljur nang marinig niya ang tilian para sa kanya ng mga tao?

"Ang sarap, ang sarap pakinggan!" bulalas ni Aljur. "Pero siyempre, nandiyan si Kris. Si Kris ang nagpalakas ng loob ko."

Before the show, kinakabahan ba siya?

"Opo, sobrang kinakabahan ako," sagot niya. "Noong pagtawag pa lang sa akin, sobrang kinakabahan na 'ko. Pero noong makita ko si Kris, sobrang lumakas ang loob ko."

Bago ang ABS-CBN star na si Gerald Anderson, na siyang cover boy ng Cosmo Centerfolds this year, si Aljur muna ang lumabas and, eventually, nagsama sila sa stage kasama ng iba pang bachelors. Na-feel niya ba na parang may kumpetisyon sa kanilang dalawa ni Gerald sa stage?

"Para po sa akin, hindi ko naman po naramdaman. Feeling ko, kami ni Gerald, nag-enjoy lang kami sa ramp. At saka alam ko na pinagpaguran din niya yun. Parang ninamnam lang namin lahat ng pinagpaguran namin. Talagang enjoy lang, enjoy lang," sabi ni Aljur.

Sa backstage ay nagkausap din daw sila ni Gerald at nagkayayaan pa ngang mag-basketball paminsan-minsan.

Posible kayang next year ay mapapanood pa rin si Aljur na rarampa sa Cosmo Bachelor Bash? This year kasi ay isa siya sa gumimik kung saan binuhusan niya ang kanyang sarili ng mineral water sa stage.

"Hindi ko pa po masabi sa ngayon," nakangiti niyang sabi, na bakas pa rin ang kasiyahan sa kanyang mukha.

Dingdong scales the stairway to success


Marian Rivera's career soared to new heights when GMA-7-crowned Primetime Queen, and her latest fantasy-series "Darna," has been consistently claiming top ratings on primetime television.

Now all eyes are on Dingdong Dantes, Marian's love team partner for three consecutive primetime TV hits series ("Mari Mar," "Dyesebel," "Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang") as he embarks on his own TV show with another female lead actress, Rhian Ramos.

Starting Monday, Dingdong Dantes' latest soap opera, the Filipino adaptation of the popular and hit "Korean-telenovela" "Stairway to Heaven" airs on the Kapuso network's primetime block.

So what kind of pressure is Dingdong feeling right now? "The pressure is coming from different sources. First, is the success of the original Korean TV series. Second, after so many years, the series is revived and in a local version. Then there's the character requirement because much is expected from me as Cholo... as much as possible I want to set aside the pressure and just focus on making it right. If I'm going to think about the pressure then I won't enjoy my role and I'll always be out there to deal with pressure when in fact you just have to do your job right," the actor explained.

Instead of worrying, Dingdong focused more on what's needed for his role. The requirement of him as an actor was huge as he would reprise the role of Cholo, who was much loved by Filipino viewers in the original "Stairway to Heaven."

As Joyce Bernal, the series' director explained, "I told him not to give me 100%, but 200%. So medyo sa kanya ako nakatutok. If you're looking for a material for you to learn so much and for you to really prove that you are an actor, then this is it. So if you won't give everything in this series then when and where will you do it?"

And how was it working with Joyce Bernal again? "I always have faith in her storytelling. May it be action, drama, horror or suspense, her objectives and storytelling were always clear. Much more that she is paired with another good director Andoy Ranay and Mac Alejandre. It's really a good combination for a material like this," he replied.

For his preparation, he watched the original series but according to him, he didn't finish it. "I was hooked watching it because it was really a good series. But I got scared that some of the acting on the said series might rub on me so I stopped midway. I don't want to imitate Cholo in the original series. Also I want to be surprised by the creativity of our writers. I want to give something fresh in my role. A story can be told a million times, but once executed differently and specifically, that would mark and that's my goal. So I don't want to envision something yet. Gusto ko fresh na fresh," he described of his treatment on his role as Cholo.

So far, Dingdong Dantes has received positive feedbacks from the advance screening of "Stairway to Heaven" held at Megamall Cinema last Sunday and during the show's viewing presscon last Monday at GMA-7's Studio 7. And one of these feedbacks was that he has already shifted well to another leading lady who is Rhian Ramos. He even won praises from GMA SVP for TV and Entertainment Wilma Galvante who called him very effective as Cholo.

"It was nice to hear that from her because we all know that everything we do here is a risk especially for them. Kung baga wala naman tayong kasiguraduhan sa lahat ng mga mangyayari. Coming from our boss, someone who believes in us, ang gandang gratification...we really have to put so much effort in this project because this is a big responsibility. Not everyone is given a good project like this so we have to really take care of it and enjoy na rin at the same time," he commented.

He also attributed the smooth flow of "Stairway to Heaven" to the immediate chemistry spawned by his tandem with Rhian Ramos. He finds her very talented and very professional as an actress. He is also in awe with her acting craft.

"She shifts automatically when she becomes her character. Off camera I would see her laughing and was herself. Then the next thing you know she was Jodi with full emotions. Ang galing lang. I didn't know her well before but now I get to appreciate her more and it is very nice," he opined.

"Stairway to Heaven" is the story of childhood sweethearts Cholo and Jodi who got separated when the former went to the States for his studies. He vowed to return for her which he did after five years. He was supposed to marry her but unfortunately, Jodi was run over by Eunice's (Glaiza de Castro) car, her step sister who's after everything she has including Cholo.

Jodi didn't die but lost her memory and was taken advantage of by Tristan (TJ Trinidad), her eternal suitor. After five years, Cholo bumps to her accidentally. Jodi doesn't recognize him but true love became the key for her to remember her real identity.

So does Dingdong see parts of himself in Cholo, especially as a person in love?

"Yes when it comes to his deep love for Jodi that he would leave everything for her. Well Cholo has everything in the TV series. I can't say that I have everything in real life but there are aspects in my life that I hold very dear to me and that's where I get my inspiration from!" Dingdong said.

Also in "Stairway to Heaven" are Jean Garcia, Sandy Andolong, Jestoni Alarcon, Soliman Cruz, Joshua Dionisio, Barbie Forteza, Joana Marie Tan, Jhake Vargas, Karen delos Reyes, Carlo Gonzales, and Paul Holme. While the theme song of "Stairway to Heaven" was sang and interpreted by Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez.

Aljur, Kris caught in the act

Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal were "caught in the act" in a very daring and romantic situations during the shooting of their launching movie entitled "Nandito Ako... Nagmamahal Sa 'Yo" under Regal Films.

"Aljur has always been sweet to me and we are already very comfortable with each other, so I think that's the reason our romantic and intimate scenes in the movie came out naturally," said Kris Bernal.

Aljur added: "We had a very happy set, and Bohol is very conducive to romance. We were moved by the beauty of the place, the story and the co-workers. I think this mood will be very evident in our movie - which I should say was well made."

Aljur and Kris had several kissing scenes in the movie. Kris said one kiss even lasted for five minutes.

"Of course I was emotionally aroused," Aljur said. "I could not help it. I'm just a human being."

In the movie, it was for the first time that Kris wore a two-piece, and Aljur in a swimming trunk. That's why there was much friction of the flesh!

Aljur said: "When you watch the movie, you will be drawn, not at how many times Kris and I kissed, but by the beauty of the story. Come to think of it, we really had a lot of intimate and daring scenes that we've never done before - which make this movie all the more significant to our love team."

The movie also proves that Aljur is indeed one of the sexiest eligible bachelors.

Regal Films executive Roselle Monteverde-Teo said: "Aside from the romantic scenes of today's hottest love-team, Aljur and Kris, 'Nandito Ako... Nagmamahal Sa 'Yo' is a story of enduring love, selflessness, forgiveness and sacrifice. I'm sure a lot can be learned from this movie about transcending all problems, barriers and limitations and fighting for one's true love."

"Nandito Ako... Nagmamahal Sa 'Yo" opens on Sept. 30 in all theaters nationwide with a premiere night on Sept. 27 at SM Megamall.

The closeness of Aljur and Kris is more than that of two deeply in love lovers. But both stress that they are not lovers yet - only on screen." Kris however said that it came to that point, perhaps. "But not now," Kris insisted. "My focus, or our focus is still our work, our jobs as actors!"

"I like Aljur," Kris added. "He is so sweet, so mabait."

"We worked hard for the movie," Aljur said. "It was our launching movie. I have been waiting quite sometime for it. And thanks to Mother Lily for trusting in us, both Kris and myself."

Aljur and Kris are the lead stars in GMA's TV series "All My Life."

Much of the scenes of the movie were filmed in picturesque Bohol, with the Baclayon church and the chocolate hills as backdrops.

The main core of the story is the intense rivalry of two half-brothers for the love of a woman played by Kris.
