For me, the reason why most people want to live in the US bec. you can have a lot of opportunity (decent salary, visit different cities, entertainment and etc).
and you cant have or do this in other countries? the only advantage i see about US is the language. if you speak english then you will have more opportunity and it makes life easier. most, if not all of european countries (with the exception of england) does not use english as their main language and that makes finding a job ALOT difficult. unless of course theres already a job waiting for you but if you go to european countries without any relatives there and your main purpose is to look for a job then forget it.

To each his own. I am now back at the best place to live.... for me, that's the USA.

By the way, after 48 hours (her first time in the USA) my wife is most impressed with: how organized and clean it is here. So it depends on where you are. The United States is a HUGE country with so many different areas and climates to choose from (3,000 miles coast to coast).

OH MY GODFATHER, WOW! thats outrageous and totally not true. in terms of income taxation, the more you earn, the more you pay. but if you say "average income tax" that also means an "average income tax payer" who is earning an "average wage".

here if you have 2 jobs or you are earning an income from more than 1 source then the tax on the second source of income is ALOT higher compare to the first, but you also have to be earning ALOT from that to pay closer to 50%, it can be less or even more depending on the amount of the income. or if someone is earning €20,000 a month then yeah maybe i can believe that person is paying50% tax.

but then that cant be considered as an "average" anymore coz not more than half of Finnish population is earning that much or is earning from more than one source of income. i've lived in finland for almost 2 yrs now and as far as i know, an average income tax from someone earning an average salary with no other source of income would fall anywhere between 21% to 28%. trust me, im one of the of tax payers who pays an "average" tax and if 50% of my salary goes to it, mo uli nalang kos pilipinas oh and we have 4 seasons in finland and health care is not only cheaper, but closer to being free without compromising the quality.

the thing that impresses me about this country is that their government provides a good security on the aspects of life that people usually worry about like health care, education, unemployment and elderly care.
No, please do not adjust what I said. The average is the "mean" tax... not the average tax "payer". Please don't assume that it means the average income tax payer pays 50%. It is the average rate for all taxpayers as a whole. Explained once again, of course not everyone pays that rate, it is the average rate!

And for me, personally, my health care is payed for and so is that of my dependents... for life. Thanks Uncle Sam.

I agree. I've lived in several US cities and they are vastly different. But i've loved them all.
Los Angeles and San Francisco - you get ur big city problems (traffic, high cost of living, dirty in some parts...) But i love love love the diversity and night life, there is always something to do
rural Missouri - affordable cost of living, green, quiet. But i lived on an all white neighborhood and its kinda boring on a Friday night.
Chicago- I got out of there the first cold snap i experienced. Nice city though.
Stamford, Connecticut - the best place i've lived in the States. Close enough to New York City for a weekend debauchery and come home to a nice, relatively peaceful town with enough diversity and interesting stuff to do.

i think our opinion of "what is the best place to live" is only limited to our own personal experience. but the more countries you have lived in, the wider comparison you can make.

I totally agree. I lived in Italy for a couple of years to do some missionary work and was able to travel through Europe as well. While they were all interesting places you have to weigh in your personal lifestyle choice, social and economic/financial needs in choosing where to live. In hindsight i think i made the right choice, urban America suits my needs.
