this looks like a Spurs-Pistons rematch.. Miami is a bit soft considering the injuries of their key players, and who knows, the Nets might pull an upset in the second round against them. Pistons-Heat or Pistons-Nets? Pistons has the advantage.. going to the West, with Stoudemire out, San Antonio's biggest opponent is Dallas. they might meet in the second round, but the Spurs is the better team..

Nowitzki, Mavs Gain Ground on Spurs

SAN ANTONIO, March 7 (Ticker) -- The Dallas Mavericks sent a message to the San Antonio Spurs behind a little bit of defense and a lot of Dirk Nowitzki.

Nowitzki scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Josh Howard contributed 22 and 10 as the Mavericks posted an impressive 92-86 victory against the Spurs, who have lost two straight home games for the first time this season.

Jason Terry added 14 points and Jerry Stackhouse 12 for Dallas (57-19), which moved within one game of San Antonio (58-1 for first place in the Southwest Division and the top overall seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

Offensively, the Mavericks continued to rely on Nowitzki, who made 11-of-24 shots from the field and 7-of-8 free throws in leading the team in scoring for the 16th straight game.
