basing from other forums, they say that the written is a ccnp level exam with the addition of other technologies covered on the blueprint. as for the lab, it is an 8 hour (1 day) practical exam. each candidate is given a rack of routers and switches and is tasked to configure specified requirements while achieving full connectivity. as far as the rate of passing, it takes a candidate an average of 2.5 lab attempts to pass it. (3 x $1,250 excluding air fare and accommodation)

@ridney - this is a very good investment... for life for the future... anyway ask lang ko.. how much na tanan na invest nimo with cisco? can you give estimates...

i have a long time plan to go cisco, pero need to know budgets first.. here's my plan: (future who knows)

    Network Security
CCNA --> CCSP --> CCIE Security

cost? well that's an issue. i would say that i could have bought an old car with it ga jeepney lang tawn gihapon ko !
well, i try to think of it as a lottery ticket rather than an investment. i'm not sure how my future unfolds but hey, sometimes we need to gamble right?!

as for security, from what i have noticed from the current job openings for network admitstrations, they require you to know configurng firewalls, vpn concentrators and even intrusion detection systems. so i should say it's the way to go. the demand for security is high nowadays so planing to go that route would be best.

for the cost of the ccie security track, you only need to pass the ccie written exam to take a crack at the lab. if you're on the budget, then i guess you don't need the lower certs to prepare yourself for the ccie exams. but cisco recommends the path you've chosen (ccna, ccsp, ccie) just keep in mind that ccsp has five exams, one more than ccnp, which would cost you 5 x $150 = $750. anyways, it would be your long term goal then i think it would still be manegeable

all the best to the future
