so unsa man ang science ana ni agua bendita? hahahaha
Some people seem to think that because it's fiction and not based on fact, then it follows that it should be inaccurate. A science fiction story that is scientifically accurate can still be fiction in so many ways. i.e. if the characters are made up, a story that presents an event that didn't actually happen in history, etc.
If people started incorporating accurate science into their stories, that would no less diminish the inspiration and fun people get from them.
If dili gyud pwede for some reason, then maybe movie or book makers should start putting a disclaimer at the beginning of their stories; stating that not all science-related stuff in the story is either proven or accurate.
Again, to those who pointed out that it would no longer be science fiction if a story is purely based on scientific facts - I think it's a form of one-way thinking, what you're exhibiting; and I have to say, honestly, that I'm aghast - because when you think of it, it's not SCIENCE either. So better call those stories simply fiction.

While I agree that filmmakers have a responsibility to be as accurate as possible when using scientific facts in their movies these days, I don't really see the need for them to go into detail with these assertions or see to it that everything is factual. That's the beauty of make-believe, it takes us, the viewers, to places where we can't hep but ask ourselves "What If?" As vern pointed out, the very fact that the inaccuracies people see on film encourages them to check and find out the truth is a good thing.
Simply put, movies (at least most of them) aren't real, and sooner or later, children will find that out themselves. For the meantime, let them be. Imagining is healthy. Why, Jurassic Park was a film that was ridden with holes, yet how many children did the movie inspire to read and learn more about dinosaurs? Armageddon's claims were ridiculous (thank you Michael Bay) but it paved the way for the mainstream community to read up on asteroids and the implications of their impact on our planet. The list goes on.
