You can even see the ending a mile away with the telenovelas, "why are you still watching this crap?" if the plot won't kill you the bad acting will.

Telenovelas = weak, low self esteem . PBB = acting like God? you get to be pushed around "low self esteem ", but dont worry you get to be a actor/actress after the gig. In the past, they used to have.. what you might call it... "TALENT"? thats returns back to bad acting. TV

It would have better if they return viewing the old cartoons, Bugs Bunny, filled with violence, but at least you get to learn the classic music, english, humor. Your english would have gone better, even if you are an out of school youth. Cartoons would be best if its in english, its an early education for the kids, or you can atleast put english subtitles (if you translate it, kids would get dumb, due to tagalog You can't get in a Call Center with tagalog)

Direct hit to the tagalogs (call me a racist) Tagalog = dumb. That's why we are in this paradise, they are running the country. Wake up man. Back to TV.

Even if it is a Japanese animation, just add the english subtitle, kids will have to read in order to get along with there friends, and they will be force to learn so that they can be "in". Japanese animation if filled with values, Ex. Samurai X. you get to learn something in every episode.

Early education with cartoons would cure this problem, its not the cartoons that makes the kids dumb. It's education.
    A-MEN to this post!

You hit the nail on the head bai.

Kids from my time grew up watching "Sesame Street" and "The Electric Company" Most of you probably grew up with Batibot, or worse, "tagalized" Anime. There lies your problem.

Not necessarily smarter, but in a world dominated by a culture that uses the English language, one would be "better-equipped" to deal with things if you were fluent in this language. And stop comparing the Philippines with China--you're putting the issue out of context if you keep mentioning countries who have not adapted English as a second language--from the 50's onward, China developed its economy on its own, without much outside interference, so naturally, knowledge or fluency in the English language is moot to them (however, that's changing now mind you--they now have "Grammar Police" in Beijing). However, the Philippines being "liberated" by Western Powers after WW2, naturally, English would become a second language and since its economy is more or less linked with western economies, knowledge of English is essential to thriving in this environment.
