According to a report in the NEWS TRIBUNE, "A new face was on the court for the Seattle SuperSonics before their game with the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday afternoon. Well, a new old face. Assistant coach Detlef Schrempf has started traveling with the team, and this was his first trip."

According to the Province's David Pratt, the owners of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks are thinking about buying the Portland Trail Blazers and moving them to Vancouver.

The Portland Trail Blazers say they will lose $100 million US over the next three years and owner Paul Allen is looking to sell the team, or move it, or both.

This year likely over for ailing star unless Rockets in playoff hunt late

For the first time since he was helped off the Toyota Center floor, Rockets forward and leading scorer Tracy McGrady was there again Thursday.

It was, he said, the last time he expects to be on that court this season.

McGrady said the prognosis that he would be out "up to five weeks" was actually firm doctor's orders. Speaking at the Rockets' annual Tux & Tennies dinner, McGrady repeatedly referred to coming back "next season."

He was confident he would fully recover from his injury, a strained lower back. But he could only hope he would not suffer through another season of back spasms.

"I can't do anything physical until five weeks (from last week's diagnosis)," McGrady said. "That leaves me with four or five games left. It all depends on where we are after those five weeks. I'm definitely not ruling myself out right now. But if we're not in the running for the playoffs and we only have four or five games left, it really doesn't make sense for me to come back.

"Just prepare myself and get ready for next year — that's what my doctor advised me. The five weeks is definitely something I've got to abide by. That's not doing anything physical for five weeks."

March 17, 2006 -- GUESS it's safe to say Stephon Marbury no longer is interested in earning any Brownie points.

Guess it's safe to say they don't come with any less self-esteem than Larry Brown. Coaches have to die before receiving the kind of acclaim this Hall of Famer has, yet he's compelled to defend himself against Marbury's blither and blather.

Guess it's safe to say we know exactly who's answerable for uniting these two postulating posteriors and not having the commanding presence to demand their silence when their public bickering began months ago. This is what happens when the devil sells his soul to two divergent creatures of egocentricity.

In a state that has no-fault insurance and no-fault divorce, but never no-fault sports, it's safe to say there's no and every reason to spread the blame; presenting Isiah Thomas.
