Basically the TS does not get my point why I have placed them in my examples. There are some people who think that being agnostic or being an atheist alredy sets them in a religion. I am NOT saying ALL the followers in that matter. I am merely just putting that as an example so she/he would understand better my previous post.
manhid ang mga tawo kung wala nila narealize nga so much mess ang gihatag sa mga religion! believe me!
you don't need to state examples for you to explain your side further ma'am
basically, atheism is not considered a religion.
religion is defined establishing symbols that relate to spirituality
atheism doesn't believe on spiritual bullsh*t, so it contradicts to the idea that atheism is a religion.
because, atheism DOES NOT establish symbols in resemblance to spirituality.
first, I would just like to remind you not to use profanity here in the forum.. second, if you could read some articles about atheism, i know it states that there is an absence of GOD. but basically, SOME and I'm saying SOME consider it as a religion.. I am not pointing to those who practice it now but to those who find it like being a Catholic.. I'm not speaking for myself, but for everyone who think it is. So there is no use of you telling me that atheism is being this or that, because I know what you mean and I get your point. This is my own opinion and this is how I understand your post. You needed opinions, I am giving you one.
Just by reading some replies here, I can tell that there are still people who have difficulty differentiating religion from faith.
whatever your opinion is about my opinion, I have stated what I understood about it.. There is no right and wrong here since the TS is asking for POV's from others and their opinions as well.. Now I rest my case..![]()
The similarities are closer than you think. Religion may not be a drug but it works like one in that it allows a person to cope with pain/depression.
Also, like a drug, religion actually makes people believe in things that to an un-indoctrinated person would seem absurd and totally illogical.
Personal knowledge and experience is different from economic numbers and statistics.Who says that religion is not as influential in educated, progressive and wealthy countries?
I personally know many intellectuals right here in the country who equal their knowledge with their faith. This should be it, ideally. Because when you are smart and faithful at the same time, you will not allow yourself to be dictated by the leaders blindly, if you get my point.
Japan is perhaps the best example of this, where majority belong to either Buddhism or Shinto. Look at them now.
China is also a good example. Very religious and respectful to their ancestors, too. Look at them now.
In the Philippines, however, majority are the faithful only. Thus, what we are now.
Here is a bit of data courtesy of the Pew report.
Please take a look at the map which illustrates religiosity...The survey finds a strong relationship between a country’s religiosity and its economic status. In poorer nations, religion remains central to the lives of individuals, while secular perspectives are more common in richer nations.
Notice that the more economically developed countries do not rely so much on religion. This has nothing to do with their respective faiths... it only means that the more economically developed countries do not rely so much on religion and therefore reinforces my point that religion is not as influential in educated and wealthy countries.
If you have objections to my point, please submit evidence disproving my point. First hand experience is very weak evidence.
I personally don't have problems with religious people as long as they do not let their being religious affect others who might not share their beliefs. Religious leaders meddling in politics like what the Catholic Church leaders are doing is misrepresenting its people. Let the people speak for themselves and voice out their opinion through surveys and their representatives in government.

Maybe you're still not aware of it yet. But sooner you will suddenly realize that you're having your own bible.
Back to your topic.. If you want to get rid of religion then why not start that with you parents, brothers and sisters, cousins and your neighbors if you can't get them off from religion then this thread is ridiculous.
