kinsa man diay ang ni look-down sa mga call center?
ang mga tawo or ang mga agents ra mismo?

and we are talking here about IT Professional, not Information Technology.

"A few of the duties that IT professionals perform may include data management, networking, engineering computer hardware, database and software design, as well as the management and administration of entire systems.

ang imo intro kai ---- According to Mr. Wiki

Information technology (IT), as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), is "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information

so part ang information technology sa imo topic...

ang ni look down sa mga callcenter agents hmmm... dunno.. sa ma igo lang..

You have a point. I'm an AB English graduate yet I work in the IT industry. However, I wish you'd clarify your last few lines there, because you have me confused--what are you implying exactly? Are you implying that IT professionals "look down" on call-center agents just because of the difference in salary range/rates? Or is it because of skill? If it's the latter, then I have to say that I have respect for people who take pride in their skill--it may be mistaken as gloating or being "hambugero" pero if hambugero ka but naay ipanghambug, that's fine by my book.

In my experience I have never encountered any "IT professional" who would deliberately "look down" or scoff at those who work in call centers. Probably (and take note, this is a wild guess), knowing our culture, it's the other way around--that it's the people in call centers who would tend to gripe and grumble about "IT professionals" simply because of the difference in pay. But if you analyze it closely--does the average call center employee possess the skillset of say, a systems administrator or programmer for a major Cebu firm? This is all about skills people--in my case (since our company is indeed hiring), it's easy--show me your skills and I'll hire you--show me that you're bluffing and I'll fire you (this has happened 4 months ago). It's all about skills, people. And btw, the poorer your communication skills (i.e. written and oral English), expect to commit epic fail, in an environment dominated by the English language.

@taga ipil... i couldnt agree with you more... ako to be honest..i studied IT pud..turns out that due to some financial issues with family, that's why im in the callcenter business (for practicallity) and yeah if to make it sound better, for the money.. and after reading some posts here .. i noticed that some IT people tends to create several comments with callcenter agents, like "im mr. IT and Im skilled and all and blah blah.." seriously.. we all love our jobs and as much as possible we want people to respect or probably appreciate what we do..I love IT ofcourse kurso gud na nako... in behalf lang sa callcenter peeps nga naa dri..mao maka relate lang pud ko ngano ma defensive sila.. ang impt. we are happy of what we do.. if that guy is good in programming and wants to be a garbage collector then respect the dude.. im actually not refering to you... kai humana man ang katong issue na atong gi talk about.. the reason ni reply ko dri.. cuz there are people who are just plain.... "blah blah"....

i Took up IT.. but i work in a callcenter... in a Technical Account since i dont want to lose touch of my skills... at home.. i practice 'that' skill... i even render free services... because i love it.. not because i demand to be paid high for it... so what if IT has a high salary.. so what if callcenter has a high salary? what gives dba?!

mao to xa.. i think i've said enough.. dont want to be some "blah blah" guy... hehe jam jam lang gud.. share share lang ba.. this is what IT people do... this is what callcenter people do.... maypa mag share tag bloopers malingaw pata.. hehe

bai, base sa imong gipost, interesado raman cguro ug kwarta ning uban agent, di man cguro interesado ug career growth.
anyway depende man gud na sa prinsipyo, naay uban tao contento lang, naa pod uban tao knowledge hungry, and im the later. kong ang tao mag cge ug seek ug knowledge and skills di lang niya ma bantayan iyang sweldo mo taas pa d i x10 pa sa iyang sweldo gikan pagka call center agent niya.

I think I know your former TL (C.N.R. iyang initials?)...he left your company not because he was seeking higher pay--he left because, just like what r0mm3L said, he wanted to grow in terms of his skills and experience. Now, he's working for a major firm and we also hired him for part-time consultancy work in our company. So now, he has the best of both worlds...why? kay his yearning to grow, his skills in being a "blah blah" person (marketing/public relations) earned him the right to be where he is now, not one, but TWO cutting-edge jobs, with better pay.
