actually man gud diri sa atoa when a popular TV network tells the Philippine masses this person is funny and we should laugh mukatawa gyud dayon ang mga taw and nevermind nalang trying to really think if he/she is funny or was there a punchline.

It's also a matter of conformity OR nga while others the rest of the crowd is laughing so should you so you find yourself you belong or fit-in.....BANDWAGON mentality!

There are different genres of comedies. And we Filipinos are basically used to the "slapstick" styles and prop comedies used on films for decades, where someone needs to get hurt/slapped/bumped/stumbled in order to be funny, or someone needs to be insulted to appease audiences. Dating back from Dolphy, to Babalu and Redford then now with Pooh or Chokoleyt. And we have "Insult" comedies done by Vice Ganda and other comedy bar acts.

This is one reason why a majority of Filipinos won't laugh when watching stage acts by Jay Leno, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart or George Carlin. (Well, if we put aside the language barrier, of course).

Ryan Rems comedic genre is an overlap of Satire/Surreal/Observational comedy, and it's very rare here in RP, which is what ABS-CBN Studio Execs are looking for. He can really write satires and surreal jokes. He's the Filipino version of Jon Stewart or Dave Chapelle.

So to answer your question, yes there's a bit wrong with how you absorb jokes. You need to step out of that basement/mentality and explore the variety of options humans have. But it's your opinion, so our hands are tied.
Thank you for such an enlightenment @bleedingboi. I appreciate your efforts in letting me understand the various comedic genres that I had to personally visit my friend google for a more elaborate find. Sure RyanRems use an overlap of genres but still I find him a bore, like monotone boring.

I tried stepping out and exploring his lines of comedy but still found them unamusing and would not force myself into exploring them any further in the hopes of absorbing his jokes. Thanks to you again I finally find an answer to my own question. There is indeed nothing wrong with me. For to choose hardcore metal over the classical does not make me lesser of a music lover, does it?

With all due respect to RyanRems fandom, I have nothing against you. If he makes you happy and takes away the stress of everyday life, I am sincerely glad he has that effect on you.

In my humble opinion, there are far more prolific ways to pass time than this. But then again, this is just my opinion and your hands are tied-just like my hands are when you voice your opinions out. Ciao'

Here in the Philippines the humour or the comic act doesn't start on the stage or during the performance
But it starts with the producing network---priming the masses of what's new, what's funny or not (even if not).
Pointing the direction where to look and laugh so then they throw their "talent" on stage being set up already by the network everyone is already laughing out of conformity or going with the trend.

Mao na giingon...our media here is capitalising on the ignorance of the masses

OK ni tan-aw gyud ko sa youtube just in case lang bah I'm making prejudices
Ryan Rems diba a guy naka leather jacket taas buhok just in case lang dili na mao

    SERIOUSLY!!!!
People are actually laughing as if his jokes are funny gyud?

OR is the humour actually the whole act and making a mockery of the performer himself---his efforts to be funny and cracking his jokes?

Mura nalang ug bugal bugal nalang.
