We don't need Hollywood actors to make us laugh kay bisan gani sa atong kaatubang ug kaon,
daku na gani kau ta ug katawa kung motulo iyang sip-on sa kahalang sa iyang gikaon.
Sorry but I have to disagree with you
First we are not talking about kalipay here...what I was referring to is the majority of the Filipinos lack the wit, or that certain sense of humour that ascends beyond corny, slapstick, cheap, redundant, overused punchlines our comic acts.

Or maybe siguro if muingon ka "mabaw ug kalipay" what's probably more accurately saying is ok ra tah or pwede ug something substandard or this habit of saying "pwede nana na ui payts na na".

Pero when it comes to lifestyle gani "taas ug kalipay" or di matagbaw kung unsa'y naa...pugson gyud bisan nag kagidlay mag iPhone gyud bisan wala'y pang load. Or won't settle for anything less when it comes to luxury items or things that's not of immediate importance

TS, I appreciate your opinion, but let me educate you first about comedy.

There are different genres of comedies. And we Filipinos are basically used to the "slapstick" styles and prop comedies used on films for decades, where someone needs to get hurt/slapped/bumped/stumbled in order to be funny, or someone needs to be insulted to appease audiences. Dating back from Dolphy, to Babalu and Redford then now with Pooh or Chokoleyt. And we have "Insult" comedies done by Vice Ganda and other comedy bar acts.

This is one reason why a majority of Filipinos won't laugh when watching stage acts by Jay Leno, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart or George Carlin. (Well, if we put aside the language barrier, of course).

Ryan Rems comedic genre is an overlap of Satire/Surreal/Observational comedy, and it's very rare here in RP, which is what ABS-CBN Studio Execs are looking for. He can really write satires and surreal jokes. He's the Filipino version of Jon Stewart or Dave Chapelle.

So to answer your question, yes there's a bit wrong with how you absorb jokes. You need to step out of that basement/mentality and explore the variety of options humans have. But it's your opinion, so our hands are tied.
