LAPTOP > no doubt that the functionality of a laptop surpasses that of an iPad.
I agree, not all of the apps are available on a mobile device so it defeats the purpose of having one when you are limited in terms of usage..

at its current technology, tablets especially iPads for that matter are still primarily social media tools (or toys... take your pick)

they still cannot replace laptops and desktops as productivity tools

for a student or anyone whose work relies heavily on MAKING documents and presentations, a desktop or a laptop (for mobility) is still recommended and preferrable for use

tablets currently are typically just used as an accessory. pangtambay-tambay or suroy-suroy lang, not for serious work

i do think na medyo naay gamay improvement sa technology sa side sa mga tablets in terms of useability for students/work in certain cases

an example would be the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 which uses a special technology allowing you to take notes, draw or even do some little image editing with a feeling that is close to using a real pen/pencil. the technology involves both an S-Pen (a digitizer pen NOT an ordinary capacitive stylus) AND a display panel with Wacom digitizer (that ACCURATELY tracks your "pen's" position) to work. you can't do this with an iPad as is or with an ordinary stylus nga mapalit nimo sa CDRKing, etc. using an ordinary capacitive stylus to take notes or draw something is like using the eraser point of your pencil. very awkward and inaccurate.

the S-Pen technology still has room for improvement though (there's a certain lag feel to it when you try to "write" on the display) so until this technology is perfected, dili pa gyud ni siya makapuli sa pagtype through keyboard or the old school way of just using a REAL pencil and paper
