Strive more, work hard do antything rather than wishful thinking. Why can't we do what the others have done? Like Korea or Singapore for instance? what is the difference between their country and our country? their people and our people? why is it that they are not wishing for their country to be under the rule of a bigger country in order for their lives to improve. We can do also whatever they have done to improve their country. What is wrong with some of us is that we don't have the attitude to love our country that is why we can never improve.
Your point taken. We are just discussiong possible scenarios if and when the Philippines becomes a US territory. And if not, count your blessings any other way. What Filipinos lack is unity for a much greater cause. Yes, how many times we reason that what we need is love for our country. We dont improve cause we dont love our country. Now, how can you love a country who doesn't love you back much more cannot even take care of you and much more corrupts you? And on top we have this misplaced ego, pride and prejudice towards change. We cant be complacent and say that for sentimental values and reasons our ancestors passed on to us all these wonderful values and principles so ingrained in us that we cannot even see light at the end of the tunnel anymore. The only way to progress is change. If we are so set in our attitude about how things should be, we are not going to improve. What worked then is no longer applicable now. Similarly so with the changing technology nowadays, old systems no longer become compatible with the newer ones, we need to continously upgrade. Same concept ra na with how to embrace progress for the country in these changing times. The old ways no longer work. Government needs a major overhaul in the political system and young brilliant minds need to introduce and inject fresh ideas for the Philippines to progress. In same way, motivate the people to support those ideas in other words, get everyone involved. Out with the old and in with the new. And remember election time....no vote buying!

But the fact is, nothing is working. We need to face reality and not allow ego and pride get in the way of progress because its a matter of survival. We should be open to embrace change and I think a country like the Philippines because of its american ties in history and westernized influences, once it becomes a US territory it will even progress at a much faster rate. And i dont believe doing so the Philippines will lose its identity in fact, i think being a US territory will undoubtedly enhance it and much more so improve the quality of life for every Filipino.
very well said streetcar... that's a very nice scenario jud... eventhough guam, hawaii and puerto rico are under US but they still have their own culture and identity... with the way our leaders are running our country, the future looks kinda bleak for Filipinos... that's why we can't also blame some pinoys who wish that our country be a part of US...

we are arguing of something that will not happen anymore. we kept on giving suggestions on how to improve our country but we're only good at giving suggestions and not moving forward and doing something that can make our county move on. if we want change we should start from ourselves and stop blaming others for our present situation. we blame our government officials for being corrupt but we are not doing anything to stop them. come election time and we are still voting for the same persons that we are complaining.

Sad reality lagi sab nang vote buying kay gutom na mga tao they get easily bribed especially kadtong mga less educated and poor voters but i think if they are informed about issues affecting them that might yield a positive result into not vote buying pero unsaon man sab nila kung gutom sila and no money to buy food, out of desperation and perhaps not thinking that by vote buying they just bought/sold their future as well into more hardships for them.

Exactly, and even with citywide projects, bridges and roads they cannot even follow through completion. Always projects stalled kay ngano walay budget kuno. Before they even start on anything naa na man na sila projections, blueprint, cost estimation and estimated date of completion. Then why all of a sudden ma stalled ang projects if there is already allocated funds for it. Is it being used elsewhere on another project? Is it being pocketed by officials in charge of a particular project and maybe for their campaign funds? This is just one area out of the many that needs to be addressed.
