Strive more, work hard do antything rather than wishful thinking. Why can't we do what the others have done? Like Korea or Singapore for instance? what is the difference between their country and our country? their people and our people? why is it that they are not wishing for their country to be under the rule of a bigger country in order for their lives to improve. We can do also whatever they have done to improve their country. What is wrong with some of us is that we don't have the attitude to love our country that is why we can never improve.
Your point taken. We are just discussiong possible scenarios if and when the Philippines becomes a US territory. And if not, count your blessings any other way. What Filipinos lack is unity for a much greater cause. Yes, how many times we reason that what we need is love for our country. We dont improve cause we dont love our country. Now, how can you love a country who doesn't love you back much more cannot even take care of you and much more corrupts you? And on top we have this misplaced ego, pride and prejudice towards change. We cant be complacent and say that for sentimental values and reasons our ancestors passed on to us all these wonderful values and principles so ingrained in us that we cannot even see light at the end of the tunnel anymore. The only way to progress is change. If we are so set in our attitude about how things should be, we are not going to improve. What worked then is no longer applicable now. Similarly so with the changing technology nowadays, old systems no longer become compatible with the newer ones, we need to continously upgrade. Same concept ra na with how to embrace progress for the country in these changing times. The old ways no longer work. Government needs a major overhaul in the political system and young brilliant minds need to introduce and inject fresh ideas for the Philippines to progress. In same way, motivate the people to support those ideas in other words, get everyone involved. Out with the old and in with the new. And remember election time....no vote buying!
