Pay Hike for Government Employees!

Maybe the private sector needs compensation too. This is the reason why the House of Representative approved in its final and third reading the passage of the P125 wage hike for the private sector. Hopefully the Senators will look into it accordingly.

By the way, the news averred that it has been seventeen years since there was a legislated wage hike. Sounds another history in the journals of Congress should there be a passage of this bill.

I heard there will be a certification of the bill for the Salary Standardization Law. This will surely benefit our state workers. I do hope this will be done as soon as possible so as to help our government workers. In as much as there is a proposed 10% increase in their basic pay effective July 2007, the SSL will surely put them in a better situation.

yes i agree.sad to say though that those good employees you mentioned who are good is shrouded by the wrongdoings of others. i don't blame the media, they report what they see and they let people know about it. i don't care if they sensationalize it or not. media is like a smoke when there's fire figuratively, IMHO.

Well, I care. We need a more responsible media. Imagine yourself working your butt off in public service and then some corrupt mediaman tries to ruin your reputation in return for all your hard work. That's why the government is losing so many talented professionals to the private sector or abroad. Government workers are not only low-paid; they are demoralized from all the negative publicity.

Well that's your view. My parents have been government workers all their working years, and I also have experienced working for the government. The only thanks my father got for his long years of hard work and dedication to public service is the constant flak from crocodiles and vultures in the media. Again, besides low compensation, government workers are also demoralized from all the negative publicity. There may be corruption in the government, but that doesn't exonerate the media from its own corruption.

Government workers deserve some raise in their salaries.

Don't generalize government employees as being lazy or corrupt. There are some who deserve the hike. those who are working hard 12 hours a day (not just 8 or 9 hours), making sure they're doing their jobs right.

yes, the bad apples are always in the limelight, sensationalized, while the good ones stay on the background. yes, these good ones still exist. my uncle's life is plain and simple, unlike his colleagues who became filthy rich with dirty money. he said he's not nervous everytime the administration changes, unlike those men who tremble with fear when some changes are made in the admin.
