na cancel na oist... end of discusssion
I'd like to think the person who will benefit for the purchase is immaterial since it will be used not just by GMA herself but her successor as well if the purchase pushed through. But it's already cancelled. Maybe with too many speculations, the president deemed it best to cancel it.
She was being criticized for spending too much with her foreign trips but when the office of the president decided to purchase a jet for the benefit of the office, criticisms also poured in. It would seem that they cannot really be pleased. Well, GMA just reserved the dilemma on whoever will be the next president.
I sure am glad that this has been cancelled. I'm not sure why you say that this is stripped of any political or socio-economic order.
First, if it's the Office of the President under PGMA's term in office, then it is HER Office that purchased it, with HER approval and full knowledge. Dili man ni ballpen lang gipalit nga puwede ra sila mopalit without prior approval. Second, who is in the Office of the President who is soliciting this bid who will still be working for the next president? From how I understand it, almost all key roles in the office will be replaced by other people chosen by the next president.
Maybe we should stop this thread because it's been cancelled, pero murag sa trend, daghan gyud bali-bali ug istorya ning Office of the President...

Mao gyud ni.. we have whats called the Italian Pauper syndrome.. you know how even paupers in the streets of Milan spend everything they have on designer clothes just so that people will not think they are 'paupers' and go hungry for days.. mau na ang atong sakit.. ang Italian Pauper Syndrome![]()

First of all, I did not say it was stripped of political or socio-economic "order". I said "color". In other words, I am not siding with or going against PGMA but looking at the issue apart from background noise, such as the brouhaha about excessive presidential spending.
Bisan gi cancel na ang purchase, nothing changes. PGMA and her successors will still be indebted to the nation's oligarchs for using their jets. That was the most important point of my post. P1.2-B actually sounds cheap compared to the political debts the president incurs.
In other countries, a high government official using a private individual's air assets even if he pays for it would be viewed as a conflict of interest.
