Intel's failure, a customer's expense? What a waste.
Nicely written, well described. I can't believe why Pentium D failed to activate Thermal Protection during temperature throlling when P4's had implemented this well. I just hope this was an isolated case, really bad for the customers.
hmmnn.. that depends on how you define a "fan" is.Originally Posted by MaMasBoi

its about what serves it purpose.
its like if you say "guilliam youre a 2mb dsl connection fan" though 768kbps can serve its purpose for others, simply on my preference it cannot. so its about personal preference and what serves it purpose.
why i prefer intel on some applications and why i prefer amd on some apps is a different and looong story

im "assuming" here. im using he same mobo and same proc family(smithfield) on one rig.Originally Posted by fd
what i assume is that he might have turned the "cpu thermal control" in the mobo's bios to "off". since on a p5wd2 premium you can opt to turn it on or off.
on my personal usage, i actually have turned it off or disabled it since if its turned on its unlikely to get a higher OC and it becomes very unstable on stability tests(dual prime, s&n, etc) and even on regular use of heavy apps. i can see that 2nd core throttles even to 2.0ghz(proc is oc'ed to 3.8ghz). at any rate, no worries for me; thats the reason also i steer away from liquid cooling bec of this maintenance issues(constantly checking for liquid sys to perform at par).

By the way bro why are you disposing your setup? Seems a nice rig... Been eying 805 for my first Intel build but seems I have no budget for upgrades for the moment. Do you think the price will cascade for the coming month for this processor? Thanks![]()
