Disciplining a child has been mentioned in the Holy Bible, I think 5 times, I'm not sure. With a rod, it meant a twig, maybe. But it sure is a preoccupation of our ancestors back then pertaining to the disciplining of a child and it sure does make good results, if not, it wouldn't be seen written in the good book.

Ato ba bunalan ang bata kung magdisciplina ta, since this is a spiritual thread I will turn to the Bible.
In the bible its thought to use rod upon your child if you love them.

13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Proverbs 23:13.
