Default Re: Landmark century old Acacia trees in Carcar to be chopped down!!!

dilemma: road widening project for provincial road improvement but in doing so will affect a historical "natural" landmark. assessment will be to cut the trees (landmark) to gave way to the improvisation. some say it had to be done, others say its an unnecessary sacrifice. talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

a possible solution (para rapud ni nako ha): relocation. let the officials proceed with the widening project but instead of cutting the trees down to give way why not uprooting the whole bunch and replant them somewhere. lisod jud nuon kay centuries old na ang mga kahoy and wala pud ta kibaw if unsa na kalalum ang gigamot ani or if it will survive (personally i think it will) being replanted but siguro to apeace both the naturalist and the industrialist, might be a possibility worth looking into dont you think? but with all the red tape it has to cut through, this will be a seemingly tough challenge to undertake (una ani kung willing ba mosponsor ang gobyerno financially). anyway its better than nothing. so if i where you, start petitioning na.

added cliche: ug katong mga hilig kaau ug mga incanto/incantada/kapre diha, muingon napud na accident prone napud ning dalana kay masuko ang mga dili ingon nato na gun-on ila balay, pustaan pa ba. folklore has it that trees naturally positioned in a bowing position facing each other is sort of a "gateway" for souls/elementals/entities to get to wherever. this will soon be a stuff of horror stories napud nya i bet hehe

Kasabot man siguro ka sa akong pasabot nga it may be another tree gitanom in place pero u can never replace its value of heritage.

Well siguro para ninyu recognising our heritage and culture wala'y kalabutan sa pag asensyo

And if muingon man lang lang ka mamatay lang gihapon na and dili ma preserve hangtod sa hangtod and with that kind of mentality maypa nalang pud kana atong mga sapa himuon nalang pud ug dalan kay eventually mu dry up man lang gihapon na? same ra sab na muingon ka kay dili ma sulbad drug crisis nato legalise nalang pud.

Same ra ur giving up on something u havent lost or you wont fight for something you are not GUARANTEED to win so you have no cause in your life?
Ang Number one reason nila is para ma Improve ang dalan which will benifit a lot of Motorists. Naa daghan paagi pero kana mao pinaka barato. So if kana pinaka reasonble nga paagi then why not.

Im not against nor agree ana nga issue, ang akong point is unsaon man na nimung heritage if daghan tawo maapektuhan, or unsaon na nimung heritage if gamay or minimal ra kaayu nag ikatabang sa mga tawo? di ba ang Main priority is ang serbisyo sa katawhan man unta?

Its Not nga way kalabutan sa asenso (because murag wa man jud) - but ang point is unsa may i prioritize or kinsa may mas unahon.

And do you think ma preserve nang kahoy dha hangtod sa hangtod? anytime mamatay man ghapon na or if naay bagyo mga putol manghapon na.
one thing's for sure, those trees will stand for more than 10 generations if dli hilabtan. atleast let them be.

I think no matter how wide the road is if the motorist does not have the proper road courtesy or discipline traffic gihapon. Wlay traffic light na dihang dapita so there's no reason na ma traffic unless naay mag pataka ug hunong. Road widening is never the solution to a crowded road but the one's who use the road.

By the way, before I get carried away and burst into singing, ako pasabot is kanang road before you get to Carcar proper nga landong kaayo ug bugnaw inig agi kay sa daplin naa mga dagko ug karaan na kaayo nga acacia or unsa pa na ubang nga dako kahoy. (also as a reward after and enduring passing by that place kilometers a.k.a. Brgy. Baho)

And karon, just to give way to a multi-million road widening project, its gonna get chopped-down...simple as that.

Grabi na gyud siguro ka traffic ang dapit sa Carcar or south?

Kinsa to sige agi diha or, better yet, katong taga diha gyud do you think its really necessary to bring down these majestic trees just to give way to some raod widening?

I mean can they innovate and build or widen and build a road AROUND them (trees) and not through them?

I'm not against progress and development sa atong lugar (a multi-million project is a good guise for development) pero have we come to that tradition we are all to eager to step on anything in the name of "progress" a.k.a. quick bucks?

    Opinion ninyo people
I am doing what I can to stop the cutting of these trees. Can all of us do something concrete please "more than just talk! I am looking for a lawyer to file some legal document -- a TRO perhaps. I have contacted the Vice Gov of Cebu, who I know personally, to see if she can put a stop to it. I have contacted some residents of Carcar to go buy yards of (cheap) yellow cloth and tie big yellow ribbons on each of these trees and put up a sign "I'm beautiful, please don't cut me down"

I don't know what YOU can do. Would you sign a petition? I'm also trying to get that done.

If you may, try contact or ask assistance from Atty.Ben Cabrido or Atty. Gloria Entenzo Ramos.
They're both Environmental Lawyers and they have been very instrumental in safeguarding Cebu or the Visayas Region's seascapes particularly with our ongoing fight against Oil exploration in our protected seas.

    More Power!!!
