everybody has a say. No matter how nonsensical and stupid it is. If Public Entertainers have a say, then how much more The Church.

The call for character change of the CBCP is just appropriate. But this is not only applicable to our political leaders but to all of us. We cannot simply ignore the fact that we need to change for the better. This is a call not only for our political leaders but to all of us.

I just hope that the church knows its limitation regarding the affairs of the state.

gone are the days that the priests will just sit down and just give christ-inspired advices in their homilies or sermons to win back their flock. dire times require dire measures. they have to go out to the streets and if that entails being involved in politics, then so be it as long as they take the moral stand.
u said it. there is a very thin line separating the Church and the State, per philippine politics. i cldnt say if the case is the same wid other largely catholic countries tho.

I agree. The religious leaders calling for "character change" should be the ones leading the way by "changing their character" of meddling in political and government affairs. They are constantly sticking their noses where they shouldn't.

They should practice what they preach and start giving respect to the constitutional provision on the separation of church and state.

all i can say is, a lot of our church leaders are bunch of hypocrites. they are so good at finger pointing, fault finding, criticizing and meddling with politics/government but when it comes to their own, they are silent. even the recent incident of those 26 students molested by one priest, cardinal wouldn't divulge the name of the cos he doesn't wanna incriminate the person. oh c'mon, cardinal sir!

double talk, double standard. it's no wonder why a lot of people, me included, is not interested with all the pep talk coming out from them.

    sigh

speaking of CBCP, got this from The Freeman:

    here's the link

Readers: Cause-oriented groups snubbing the plight of 'molested' female students vs. priest
    THE EAR
    The Freeman 12/21/2006

MUTE CAUSE. The Ear heard that one of the coffeeshop talks circulating in the city is the case of the priest alleged to have molested female students at Abellana school. Many were not surprised with the silence and the refusal of the Archdiocese of Cebu to help in the investigation. But what surprised many people is the surprising silence of the usually vocal stance of cause-oriented groups. One businessman was heard saying, "Saba man unta kaayo ning GABRIELA sa pagpanalipod sa katungod sa kababayehan, pero ngano hilom man sila aning higayona?"

NO FUNDING? Another businessman at the same table answered his friend, with this tongue-in-cheek comment, "Bitaw 'Bay. Mahibong gyud ta. Basin walay funding para aning kaso? O di ba kaha, hadlok sila mobangga sa Catholic Church?"
