There is an intriguing problem now in the US Defense Department--normally, the names of deceased SEAL operatives are released to the press/public. This time around, since those who died were part of SEAL Team 6 (the team that got bin Laden), there is worry amongst DoD personnel that if the names of these deceased operatives are searched via the internet, then it might lead to the names of the operatives involved in the bin Laden raid (which as of this writing, is still classified information). So the logical thing to do is not to release the names. But there is pressure from the families of the dead operatives to release the names publicly.

    Dilemma indeed.

But who are they fighting against?

The sad thing about this is, our soldiers are just fighting against our own people (internal conflict). Yes, you'd say "But these are people who do not want to submit to the laws and government of our republic! They are enemies of the state!" You could be right, but if there is something to be sad about the deaths of these soldiers, is that they died not by the hands of foreign invaders, but by the hands of their own brethren.

Alexander the Great struggled a lot in his campaign in Afghanistan. In the end it was like a Phyrric victory. And so with the Russians until they pulled out. This time its the Americans but looks like the economic hardships back home would influence a lot in their future activities in Afghanistan. Di lalim pag maintain ug gubat sa Afghanistan dili na barato. It takes billions of US dollars in taxpayer's money to support their troops and equipment in Afghanistan in the name of American interest. And what is this interest? It's the Trans-Afghan pipeline that will carry oil from the Caspian sea region to India via Afghanistan. The taliban said NO! so there will be more fighting.
