sakto gyud ka buyer_any, very professional
Kung ang imo hosts PC is fixed to sa same location (connected to a switch), ok ra nga mugamit ka sa fixed IP, which is also more better kung gamit pa gyud kag DHCP.
in our office network i can actually set my pc's IP to DHCP or static.
if our dhcp server goes down, then i assign static ip. both ip settings have advantages. it really depend on how you want to use it.
DHCP IP address advantages are: easier to setup, and it's cheaper. (
Now onto Static IP addresses.
advantages are you can make your computer a server of some kind say a web server or FTP and stuff.
it's easier to make a remote connection to your computer with Virtual Private Network ( and using programs such as pcAnywhere, VNC or Radmin and the like. ) So basically the decision is up to you. if you plan on running a server or hosting anything from your computer then a static IP may be for you.
but if you simply want to browse the web faster, or download large amounts of data then a DHCP IP may be for good you.
DHCP kung daghan ug clients pero kong 100 or less then it would be more manageable ang fixed or static IP.
this is the best:
...DHCP is very common for bunch of PCs,
...Static one is often useful in troubleshooting.
nindot jud ang static IP for security reason, about naa ka sa company, maka hibalo ka kong kinsa nga client ang kusog kaayo mo download, so, kit-an nimo, imo dayon siya pahinayan ug bandwith, a ma NOOB na siya, kay ngano bitaw nag download, pero DHCP ok ra sad kaayo, about kani ako ngari 40 pc sa akong network sayon ra kaayo i manage, pero server nimo static jud.

lols.. static ip for security reasons? oks ra either way uy..
DHCP is used for management reasons. not for security purposes.
and besides, you can set your servers to permanently assing a specific ip to a specific computer even in a DHCP setting (DHCP assigned fixed IP)
using either DHCP or static, does not in either way affect download speeds or browsing speeds or what ever..
ok ra jud lagi bro.. bisan asa ana, kay ngari bitaw sa ko duha man akong connection, ang pikas obtain, ang pikas kay static, pero ang DCHP gehapon nag gahatag ato gna IP bro... kay wala man gud koy load balancer nga makina ngari... kay nag smoothwall man ko.. duha ka connection duha sad akong smoothwall.

kanang smoothwall nimo boyguapo. mahal na pagka palit?
bitaw, use either way, pero basta beginners pajud gani, pg DHCP nalang(temporarily hangtod ma "expert" naka)
