some bands change because they wanna stay current. some bands remains the same because that's what they're known for (a good example of this is AC/DC)

but not all bands who changed for the money. some bands changed because they wanna grow in their music. A good example is Jars of Clay. They always have unique sound in each album they made. Another example would be Kid Rock. hehehe This guy blends it all from metal to punk to hardcore to soul to southern rock to rap and now to country..

Bon Jovi? I dunno much 'bout the reason for their change. Most hair metal bands changed during the mid-90s.
